The Bears are expected to search for a receiver once the lockout ends and Dan Pompei of The Chicago Tribune mused on the possibility of the team targeting Malcolm Floyd. "Floyd could be a good option for the Bears if they are interested in paying big money to a receiver," he writes. "He's big and fast, and has the potential to be a more productive player than he has been in the past. There are two potential issues with him. The first is it is unknown whether he will be an unrestricted or restricted free agent. The second is I'm not sure he is a fit in Mike Martz' offense. Martz likes receivers who are smooth in and out of their breaks. It's difficult for a receiver as big as Floyd to be smooth."
