Sep 30, 2014 11:25 PM

Rookie quarterback Joe Flacco is reportedly in the running to be named the starter for the Ravens, according to The Balitmore Sun. Troy Smith, Kyle Boller, and Flacco are all apparently battling for the position. "We'll see. That's a fair question," Coach John Harbaugh said recently on whether or not Flacco had entered the race. "I just don't know the answer." Flacco was the 18th overall pick in this April's NFL Draft. "I think he's moving pretty quickly up the [learning] curve," Harbaugh said. "You saw it from the first quarter to the fourth quarter. So he's making a lot of progress."

Ravens' Suggs To Report With $8.5M Deal

Oct 29, 2014 4:45 AM

Baltimore linebacker/defensive end Terrell Suggs plans to end his holdout over the weekend in anticipation of signing a $8.5 million franchise tender with the team, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. He has agreed to play this season for $8.5 million and won't ask for any condition in the deal that will prevent the Ravens from franchising him next season, when he'll become a free agent. The Ravens and Suggs reached an agreement that allowed the franchise number to be the difference between the top-five number at defensive end and linebacker, which increased his tender to $8.5 million.

Bart Scott Will Still Be Looking For Hines Ward?

Nov 14, 2014 4:28 PM

Bart Scott of the Ravens still has hard feelings for Hines Ward. Scott threatened retribution after Ward delivered a pair of monster blocks -- one on Scott and one on safety Ed Reed -- during the Steelers-Ravens' game Nov. 5 at Heinz Field. Ward was held out of the Dec. 30 rematch to rest an injury before the playoffs. Neither block was penalized. Scott thought they were cheap shots. "I never forget," Scott said. "So, we shall see." Inquiring minds wanted to know if Scott, who'd threatened on the field to "kill" Ward, would follow through on his vow to "find him and make sure I take the most violent shot I can take." "That was about eight weeks ago," Scott said. "I don't have long-term memory. That is a defect I was born with: only short-term. You never noticed I wear a wristband on my hand? That's so I can remember the plays."

Ravens Sign Pro Bowl FB Neal

Sep 9, 2014 2:01 PM

The Ravens have signed four-time Pro Bowl fullback Lorenzo Neal. Neal, 37, has been the lead blocker for a 1,000-yard rusher for 11 straight seasons. This is Neal's seventh NFL team and second stint with offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. He was Cameron's starting fullback for four seasons when both were with the San Diego Chargers (2003-06). Neal was released by the Chargers in February just one season removed from being the league's highest-paid fullback. "He's one of the finest professionals that I've had the privilege to work with," Cameron said. "When you talk about a Raven -- a guy who is physical, competitive and wants to win -- one of the first guys I thought of was Lorenzo Neal. He's going to be a great complement to Le'Ron [McClain]."

Boller Will Start Preseason Opener

Aug 7, 2014 12:57 AM

Kyle Boller will start the Ravens' preseason opener on Thursday against the Patriots, according to The Baltimore Sun. "I had a feeling that it might happen," Boller said after Tuesday's practice. Boller, who threw 275 passes in 2007, does not have the team's starting job locked down. "How I play in these games is going to determine who is going to be the starter," said Boller, who is in the last season of his contract. "Every one of these games is extremely important. You get very limited reps. So, you got to take advantage of every rep that you have and every throw you have. You got to do everything you can to win that job."
