Seahawks Agree To Four-Year, $46M Extension With Doug Baldwin

Jun 29, 2016 3:27 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to a four-year, $46 million contract extension with Doug Baldwin.

The agreement keeps Baldwin under control through the 2020 season and includes $24.25 million in guarantees, according to a report.

The $11.5 million average annual value represents a steep increase following the three-year, $13 million deal Baldwin signed with Seattle before the 2014 season.

Baldwin tied the NFL lead with 14 receiving touchdowns last season.

Russell Wilson Working With Mental Conditioning Coach

Jun 28, 2016 7:59 AM

Russell Wilson has benefited from working with a mental conditioning coach in recent offseasons.

Trevor Moawad showed Wilson footage of all his successful fourth-quarter comebacks instead of replaying the interception he threw against the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl in 2015. That is just one of his tactics.

"It's his ability to see that as part of his DNA going back to high school, he's a finisher," Moawad said. "He's always finished. He's a world-class finisher. It's who he is. It's how he's been able to do what he does.

"He knows that that's what he's about. It was never really anything that needed to be re-framed. It was an isolated play, and you're gonna have isolated great plays and isolated bad plays. You're ultimately gonna be measured by what you do next. I think that the discipline based on the offseason that he had last year gave him a great opportunity to make his next moment great."

Moawad and Wilson first connected during the pre-draft process in 2012 and have had a relationship ever since.

"He’s been huge," Wilson said of Moawad. "He sends me highlights every week. But more importantly, Trevor really challenges me mentally, gives me visions of where I want to go and who I want to be and how I want to do it. I think that’s what makes Trevor so great."

Pete Carroll: Russell Wilson Has Taken 'Clear Step Forward'

Jun 17, 2016 8:52 AM

Russell Wilson set franchise records for passing yards and touchdowns last season, but the Seattle Seahawks believe the quarterback has gotten even better.

Pete Carroll said the goal this offseason was to "accelerate the process" for Wilson in terms of commanding the offense in his fifth season.

Carroll added that Wilson carried his success from the second half of last season with him into the offseason and that you "can really see him as a real, true vet now."

"He's made a clear step ahead, and his command is like all time," Carroll said. "His ability to move defenders with his eyes to set up some things -- he's consistently doing that, almost [subconsciously], he's so clued in. We saw him throw the ball all over the field throughout the offseason, and he's been strong and accurate and really precise about stuff."

Ravens Release Eugene Monroe

Jun 16, 2016 12:22 PM

The Baltimore Ravens have released Eugene Monroe.

The Ravens were attempting to find a trade of Monroe but were unable to get a deal done with the New York Giants.

Both the Giants and Seattle Seahawks could use depth at offensive tackle.

The move also helps Baltimore's cap situation, creating $6.5 million in space.

Monroe has advocated for the NFL to remove medicinal marijuana from their list of banned substances.

NBA's Nate Robinson Tries Out For Seahawks

Jun 13, 2016 4:03 PM

Former NBA player Nate Robinson had a tryout with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, a league source has confirmed.

Robinson had been playing basketball in Israel, but he's expressed interest in pursuing an NFL career at the age of 32.

"I need to get a little stronger, a little faster," Robinson told Kevin Pelton in April. "Lifting weights and watching a lot of film. Work on my feet and my hands and how to press [as a cornerback]. Basic stuff. I catch on pretty fast. Just learn some of the drills they'd have me do and start practicing and get ready for it.

"The biggest challenge is probably all the haters, everybody counting me out, somebody not really giving me the opportunity. That's what I think the biggest challenge will be, getting somebody to give me that chance. If somebody gives me that chance, I know they'll fall in love with the fierce competitor that I am because I catch on quick. Once I do that, then the sky's the limit. I don't know. It seems like they wouldn't want me to be the first one to do something like this. That's a huge challenge."

Richard Sherman Says Legion Of Boom 'Hitting Our Prime'

Jun 8, 2016 6:13 AM

Richard Sherman is confident in the Seattle Seahawks' secondary despite a dip in success last season.

"We're hitting our prime, that's what I'd say," Sherman told KIRO-AM. "I think at the beginning with our infancy, when we started this thing, it was our second, third years in the league. Now we're (in our) sixth, seventh years in the league. We're much more veteran. We have a great understanding of what's being asked of us and how to approach the game."

Sherman has been joined by Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor in the Legion of Boom's core since the beginning.

Marshawn Lynch Reconfirms He'll Remain Retired From NFL

Jun 6, 2016 2:32 PM

Marshawn Lynch confirmed he's retired from the NFL for good, quieting speculation that he may return to the game.

"I'm retired. Is that good enough? Which camera do you want me to look into? This one? I'm done. I'm not playing football anymore."

Lynch announced his retirement during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl.

The Seattle Seahawks placed Lynch on the reserve/retired list in May, meaning the team would retain his rights if Lynch decided to return.

Richard Sherman: Seahawks' Defense Great Even In Off Year

Jun 2, 2016 1:22 PM

The Seattle Seahawks didn't have quite as dominant of a year on defense in 2015 but were still excellent.

“Most people would give their left arm to have our defense,” Richard Sherman said. “But when you’re held to the standard that we are, being No. 1 in points allowed, No. 2 in total yards and No. 2 in passing yards allowed is an off year for us.”

Sherman isn’t recovering from elbow surgery. Early Thomas isn’t out with a shoulder injury. Jeremy Lane isn’t out with a broken arm. And Kam Chancellor isn’t two months away from a dispiriting holdout.
