Marshawn Lynch Leaning Towards Retiring

Jan 23, 2016 2:17 PM

Marshawn Lynch is leaning towards retiring from the NFL this offseason, according to Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider.

Lynch would owe the Seahawks $5 million in bonus money if he decided to retire, which makes it in his financial interest to force the team to cut him.

Irvin is a fourth-year linebacker out of West Virginia and recently turned 28.

Irvin previously said he expects to sign with the Atlanta Falcons, now coached by Dan Quinn, in the 2016 offseason.

Marshawn Lynch Active For Game At Panthers

Jan 17, 2016 12:08 PM

Marshawn Lynch is active for the Seattle Seahawks in their Divisional Game against the Carolina Panthers.

It remains uncertain how much Lynch will actually play.

Lynch has practiced for two weeks, but he hasn't played in a game since Nov. 15. A week later, he underwent abdominal surgery.

The Seahawks' offense has been successful in Lynch's absence with Russell Wilson playing a more significant role.

Josh Norman On Facing Seahawks: Panthers Don't Want It Easy

Jan 11, 2016 12:55 PM

The Carolina Panthers will play the Seattle Seahawks in the Divisional Round as opposed to the Green Bay Packers.

Many believe the Packers would be the easier matchup for the Panthers but not Josh Norman.

"Why? Why would you want anything in life that is easy?" Norman said Monday, via Black and Blue Review. "Shoot, man, if you don't go for it head on, then how can you say you are the best at anything? I think that is the way we are in our society. We want things the easy way and stuff to be given to us. We don't want to work for it. We want things to be handed to us. And I don't think that's the way it should be done. I think the way it has been set up is the right way."

The Panthers beat the Seahawks in Seattle in Week 6.

Marshawn Lynch Ruled Himself Out Of Wild Card Game

Jan 12, 2016 10:59 AM

Marshawn Lynch ruled himself out for the Seattle Seahawks' Wild Card win at the Minnesota Vikings.

Pete Carroll said Lynch told him he "just didn't feel like he had it."

The Seahawks beat the Vikings 10-9.

"We finished practice (on Friday), and I went right to you guys, to talk to the media, just going on what I had seen," Carroll said. "But when he went back to his locker and sat down, he just didn't feel it. He didn't feel like he could go, and that's it. He just didn't feel like he had it. There wasn't enough time to build the confidence that he needed to come in and do something."

The statement from the team capped a day where Lynch's status changed three times.

Lynch was listed as a full participant in practice all three days this week after not playing since Week 10 against Arizona. Lynch had abdominal surgery Nov. 25.

With Lynch out the Seahawks are likely to rely on the combo of Christine Michael and Bryce Brown.

Marshawn Lynch Expected To Play In Wild Card Game

Jan 4, 2016 11:20 PM

Marshawn Lynch returned to practice with the Seattle Seahawks and is expected to play during the Wild Card game this weekend.

"He's ready to go," Pete Carroll said. "He's in the program, going, working, and he's going to keep doing his workouts here with us today and tomorrow. And Wednesday, we're going to practice and see how he feels and how far he can take it. He's worked out in incredibly competitive situations. He, physically, should be ready to go, but now we've got to translate it into football and directly to us. I'm not worried about him having any problem with the system or any of that kind of stuff. It's been a while, but he'll be fine. So we'll just see if he can handle it and expect that he will."

Lynch underwent abdominal surgery Nov. 25 and has been rehabbing in San Francisco. He has appeared in seven games this season and has not played since Nov. 15.
