Sep 8, 2014 10:14 AM

The St. Louis Rams held ground in the NFC West, beating the Seattle Seahawks 19-13. The Rams improved to 2-0 at home, while the Seahawks are now 0-2 on the road.

The Rams had a +2.2 advantage in The Trench Counter, winning the turnover battle 3-1 while being outgained slightly. Seattle had a +7 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Sam Bradford went 16-for-30 for 221 yards, but it was John Hekker finding Danny Amendola on a fake field goal that gave the Rams their lone touchdown of the game.

Steven Jackson carried 18 times for 55 yards, an average of 3.1 per attempt.

Greg Zuerlein was the star, kicking field goals from 58, 48, 60 and 24 yards.

The Rams held Seattle to 2-for-9 on third down opportunities.

Seahawks Player: We Didn't Win That Game

Sep 25, 2014 6:58 AM

Several members of the Seattle Seahawks were less than joyous following their 14-12 victory over the Packers as they watched replays of the controversial touchdown catch by Golden Tate.

"We didn't win that game," said an unnamed member of the Seahawks who was in a private room of a local restaurant with Marshawn Lynch.

"Oh, it's really bad," said one veteran NFL assistant. "It's Tuck Rule bad. Rodney King bad."

Russell Wilson Called Wrong Play On Game-Winning TD

Sep 8, 2014 11:04 AM

Russell Wilson called the wrong play in the huddle before connecting with Golden Tate for the Seattle Seahawks' game-winning touchdown as time expired.

Instead of sending three receivers to the left corner of the end zone where Tate and Jennings ultimately fought for the ball, Wilson mistakenly called a "Waggle" play which called for him to roll right while several receivers ran underneath routes.

Some Seahawks' receivers ran the route Wilson called, while others ran the play he was supposed to call.

Seahawks Controversially Beat Packers 14-12 (-1.1 TC, -8 TRC)

Oct 26, 2014 3:28 AM

The Seattle Seahawks defeated the Green Bay Packers by a final score of 14-12 with a controversial Golden Tate touchdown pass from Russell Wilson as time expired, which M.D. Jennings appeared to intercept.

One player on a rival NFC North team told Yahoo's Michael Silver that it was "the worst call in NFL history."

The Seahawks had a -1.1 deficit in The Trench Counter, averaging more yards per pass and rush but recording eight fewer first downs as they struggled to threaten to score other than the two Tate touchdowns. The Packers had a +8 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Wilson finished the game 10-for-21 for 130 yards and two touchdowns to Tate, including a brilliant strike from 41 yards in the second quarter. Wilson also added 18 yards on three carries.

Marshawn Lynch was the driving force of Seattle's offense, rushing 25 times for 98 yards.

Aaron Rodgers had a solid game, going 26-for-39 for 223 yards, but he was still not his 2011 MVP self. Rodgers was sacked eight times for 39 yards, but halftime adjustments allowed the Packers to move the ball more effectively.

Chris Clemons sacked Rodgers four times for the Seahawks, while Bruce Irvin and Brandon Mebane each had two.

Bud Grant Advised Seahawks On Russell Wilson Selection

Sep 8, 2014 10:35 AM

Bud Grant, longtime head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, advised Pete Carroll on the Seattle Seahawks selection of Russell Wilson.

Grant coached Fran Tarkenton, who was one of the NFL's best short quarterbacks in history.

Carroll worked for Grant in the mid-1980s.

“(Grant) relieved any concerns that I might have had, just because of the way he talked about what Fran was like,” said Carroll in a conference call with reporters in Green Bay on Thursday. “I know there’s not a lot of guys like this, but Russell’s that exceptional and that unique. So we thought we had a real good one, and it’s looking like he’s on his way to a good start to his career.”

Felix Jones fumbled the opening kickoff of the game, making the Dallas Cowboys seemingly play uphill all day as the Seattle Seahawks improved to 1-1 with a 27-7 win.

The Seahawks had a +11.3 advantage in The Trench Counter, winning the turnover battle by +2 and holding slight edges in yards per pass and per rush. Seattle also had a +17 advantage in Total Rushes/Completions.

Russell Wilson won his first NFL game, going 15-for-20 for 151 yards and a touchdown. The Seahawks controlled the ground game, rushing 41 times for 182 yards, primarily behind Marshawn Lynch's 122 yards on 26 attempts.

Seattle limited DeMarco Murray to 44 yards on 12 carries, while also keeping Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten from breaking out.

Tony Romo finished 23-for-40 for 251 yards, one touchdown to Austin and an interception.

Marshawn Lynch will not receive a suspension during the 2012 NFL season for an offseason DUI.

Lynch had previously legal issues, which made him a candidate for a suspension.

Lynch already met with Roger Goodell to discuss the latest incident.

The NFL will wait for Lynch's legal case to be resolved, which will likely be sometime in 2013.
