Carroll Used Learning Experiences From Patriots To Current System

Jun 30, 2014 11:20 AM

Pete Carroll struggled in his first NFL stop with the New England Patriots, but learned a lot from the experience that he brought for USC and Seattle Seahawks.

“Everything that now is the philosophy, the approach, the mentality, the language, everything came out of that experience,” Carroll said. “It is classically one of those deals where you get kicked in the tail and come back better. I hate to learn the hard way. I like the other guys to learn the hard way. It did give me an opportunity to put something in motion that I’m really, really proud of.”

Seahawks Have 2nd Best Home/Road Point Differential Since 2003

Oct 31, 2014 10:40 AM

Since 2003, the Seattle Seahawks have outscored opponents by 430 points at CenturyLink Field. On the road, they have been outscored by 361. That differential (791 points) is the league's second-biggest gap, after the Baltimore Ravens.

Owner Paul Allen grew up as a fan of the University of Washington and wanted to recreate the atmosphere of Husky Stadium in an NFL facility.

"Paul has such fond memories of Husky Stadium," said architect Joe Niemuth, design director in charge of sports for AECOM, which has designed many professional sports venues. "Washington's opens up to Union Bay. We came up with a concept in a week -- a front door that opens up into the city. We had a big vertical scoreboard and some funky end zone seating."

Seahawks Keeping Russell Wilson As Starting QB

Oct 31, 2014 10:37 AM

Matt Flynn is healthy enough to start, but the Seattle Seahawks are keeping Russell Wilson as their quarterback heading into Week 5.

"We're going with Russell right now," said Pete Carroll. "He's working his tail off to get it right, and where all of the focus that goes to the quarterback position, there's a lot of guys that figure into what's going on, and he's one of them. So we're just trying to get better."
