Hasselbeck Likely Out Again, Visits Surgeon

Nov 3, 2014 4:02 PM

Seneca Wallace is expected to start for the Seahawks on Sunday against the Eagles, with Matt Hasselbeck visiting a back surgeon. "Right now, he's our quarterback," Coach Mike Holmgren said of Wallace on Monday, "and we rally behind him." Hasselbeck is having another evaluation on the bulging disk in his back. The disk is pushing on a nerve that is weakening the three-time Pro Bowler's hyperextended right knee.

Seahawks Remind Holmgren Of High School Team

Jul 29, 2014 12:06 PM

The struggling Seahawks remind Coach Mike Holmgren of an overmatched high school football team. "It reminds me of when I first started coaching at Sacred Heart High School, you know? We were kind of overmatched all the time, playing against better players for a while," Holmgren said Monday of his 1-5 team. Seattle has been without Matt Hasselbeck because of back issues, and he may miss another game this weekend. "They gave you everything they had. And you loved them for it. But it was going to be tough each week," Holmgren said of those days when he was a high school coach. "That's a little bit of an exaggeration, but that's the last time, it really is the last time [he's faced this]. I can't think in professional football. It's different."

Seattle QB Wallace To Start Against Bucs

Jul 29, 2014 12:06 PM

Seahawks' quarterback Seneca Wallace is expected to start at quarterback this Sunday against the Buccaneers. Wallace will replace Charlie Frye, who started for Matt Hasselbeck in Week Six. "He looked OK," coach Mike Holmgren said of Wallace. "But more importantly, probably, is that he feels OK. It's going to be his ball game I believe unless something happens in the next two days. And I've got confidence in him." Hasselbeck will not even make the trip to Tampa Bay this weekend because of a bulging disk and hyperextended knee.

Giants And Seahawks Have Opposing Trends Coming Off Byes

Jul 15, 2014 8:05 AM

The Giants are notorious for laying giant eggs coming out of bye weeks; Coach Tom Coughlin?s record following a bye is just 1-3 with New York, and the G-Men have lost seven of their last nine coming off a bye. The Seahawks are also coming off a bye, and they have won three of their last four in that situation.
