Seattle's Branch: I'm Ready To Go

Oct 27, 2014 3:42 PM

Seahawks' wide receiver Deion Branch says that he's ready to play against the Giants this weekend. "I?m feeling good, I?m ready to go," he said. Branch tore the ACL in his knee in Seattle's January playoff loss to Green Bay. Typically, full recovery takes nine months for an injury of that nature, but Branch claims he's ready after just eight months. "To each his own for everybody," Branch said. "If the individual feels like he?s ready to play, then so be it. Like Dr. (James) Andrews told me, 'Your knee is healthy. You just have to be OK mentally.' "

Oct 27, 2014 3:42 PM

Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has a bulging disk in his back but claims that he's pain-free, according to Associated Press. "Sort of old news to me. My back does not bother me one bit. I'm not sore in any way," said Hasselbeck on Monday. "I don't even receive treatment on it any more. So to me, it's kind of a non-thing." He was 17-for-41 with a touchdown and interception in a 34-10 loss to the Bills on Sunday. "Today [Monday], as an example, I usually come in and ice my injuries," Hasselbeck added. Morris To Start For Seahawks

Oct 29, 2014 1:13 AM

Maurice Morris will start for the Seahawks at running back against the Bills this weekend, according to NFL.com. Morris and Julius Jones will split the majority of the carries as Seattle looks to get off on the right foot against Buffalo. "Compared to the last couple years, I hope you'll see more yardage gained, for starters," Coach Mike Holmgren said. "But you'll see more substitution." "Before, you had our fullback Mack Strong and Shaun, and if they weren't tired, or hurt, that's who was going to be in the ball game. The big difference will be the substitution," he said.

Branch To Test Knee, Could Play Sunday

Jul 28, 2014 10:50 PM

Seahawks' receiver Deion Branch will test his reconstructed knee and could play on Sunday against the Bills, according to Associated Press. "It was refreshing, just to be back with the guys running around," Branch said Wednesday after of catching passes out of a machine while in full pads for the first time since destroying the ACL in his left knee last January in a playoff loss at Green Bay. The next step is up to Branch. "The next big hurdle, I would say is up to him," Coach Mike Holmgren said. "With his ligament injury, it's been my experience with all the players I've had, particular at the wide receiver position ... they're nervous about it. They have to make cuts, and they have to do things that can tell them that they can do it."

Oct 23, 2014 2:25 AM

Seahawks' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck says that he'll be ready for the team's season opener against the Bills despite back issues, according to Seattle Post-Intelligencer. "Ideally, you'd like to play a little bit more," Hasselbeck said, having returned to practice on Monday for the first time in two weeks. "But I've gone into regular seasons where I wasn't 100 percent healthy. If I could take one over the other, I'd take healthy with not as many reps."
