Jaguars Down To Two Candidates For No. 2 Pick

Aug 11, 2014 6:39 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars, who have the No. 2 pick in this month's NFL Draft, are down to a pair of candidates.

"We're pretty close -- it's down to two people," general manager Dave Caldwell said.

The popular guess is that Jacksonville is targeting pass rusher Dion Jordan or quarterback Geno Smith.

Caldwell said he doubts a deal will surface for the Jaguars to trade out of the slot.

Jaguars Content With Second Overall Pick

Oct 31, 2014 10:30 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars haven't ruled out trading down, but they are content to use the No. 2 pick in this month's draft.

"We would be open to both [staying put or trading down]," general manager Dave Caldwell said. "There is a player there at two that we're going to draft and that's going to make us better, we feel good about that and we have a consensus here from our personnel staff and our coaching staff. It would have to be the right situation for us to move back and bypass that player."

Jacksonville likes two players, so they are assured of having the chance to pick one of their targets.

Needing Backup, Seahawks Aren't Interested In Tebow

Oct 31, 2014 8:31 AM

The Seattle Seahawks need a backup quarterback after trading Matt Flynn to the Oakland Raiders.

Tim Tebow isn't a candidate to fill that spot.

Seneca Wallace, Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart and Tyler Thigpen could be options, according to the Seattle Times.

The New York Jets are expected to release him if a trade doesn't surface -- which it hasn't so far.

Aaron Ross Apologizes To Jacksonville For 'Vacation' Comment

Oct 1, 2014 6:39 PM

Aaron Ross has gotten himself in hot water for saying that his one-year stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars was essentially a paid vacation.

"I really apologize if Jag nation took offense to it," Ross said. "I loved the opportunity that they gave me, they gave me a second chance to live my dream."

The defensive back played for the Giants from 2007-2011 and then returned this offseason.

Ross, who had a disappointing season in Jacksonville after signing there as a free agent, said he wasn't trying to suggest with his "vacation" comment that he wasn't giving maximum effort to the Jaguars.

"The only reason I said the vacation thing is because it was such a short turnaround for me to [come] back home with the Giants, it felt like [being away on] a vacation. I definitely didn't mean any harm to Jacksonville city or the fans or disrespect to the organization. I have the utmost respect for that organization," Ross said.
