The Jacksonville Jaguars have clinched the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft with their loss and the New York Jets' victory over the Cleveland Browns in Week 16.

Trevor Lawrence is the probable pick at first overall and widely considered the best prospect since Andrew Luck.

The Jaguars have had just one winning season since 2007, and they have lost 10 or more games nine times in the past 10 years.

The Jaguars have used first round picks on Byron Leftwich, Blaine Gabbert and Blake Bortles.

At least two NFL teams have reached out with interest in Urban Meyer.

Meyer did not dismiss the overtures and is considering whether to make the jump to the NFL and intends to make a decision in the next week.

Meyer last coached at Ohio State in 2018 but has never coached at the NFL level.

Meyer coached Florida from 2005 to 2010, making him a logical fit for the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Gardner Minshew expects former teammate Yannick Ngakoue to be motivated to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

"Now Yannick's going to be out for blood," Minshew said.

Ngakoue forced his way out of Jacksonville four months ago by repeatedly voicing his dissatisfaction. He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings before being dealt again to the Baltimore Ravens at midseason.

"I'm just treating it as another game," Ngakoue said. "We need the rest of these wins to get to where we need to get to. At the end of the day, I had my time with Jacksonville, you know that's not a secret. At the end of the day, I'm just going to treat it like another game, another Sunday."

The Jacksonville Jaguars have named Gardner Minshew starting quarterback for Week 15.

Mineshew has been out with a thumb injury until playing the final 23 minutes of Jacksonville's Week 14 loss. 

Gardner Minshew says he pleaded with Doug Marrone to put him back on the field for the Jacksonville Jaguars after he was medically cleared from a thumb injury late last month.

Marrone opted to go with Mike Glennon and he's sticking with the veteran heading into Week 14.

"It's so frustrating," Minshew said. "I pretty much went and begged before the Cleveland game to be able to play. It sucks, you know, There's no way around it.

"I want to be out there. I want to be helping our team, but if helping our team is me being the best No. 2 I can be then that's what I've got to do right now."
