Shad Khan: Jaguars No Longer 'Laughingstock'

Dec 18, 2017 8:27 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars clinched a playoff berth with a win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

It marks the team's first postseason appearance since 2007. Since Shad Khan bought the team in November 2011, the Jaguars had never won more than five games.

"I've been through life when I was a laughingstock, whatever business I was in -- auto parts, what have you -- and then you have to stay with it, and success comes," Khan told ESPN. "It's a story of perseverance."

The Jaguars could also win their first division title since 1999.

"What a feeling," Khan said. "It's unbelievable. To win it and win it the way we did today [is] mind-blowing. ... I'm always an optimistic guy and certainly whatever I was hoping for, it's that and more. I think it's been a long time coming, and I'm so grateful to be here and have the city support us."

Infographic: Five Teams Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA

Dec 13, 2017 12:29 PM

The NFL has five teams ranking in the top-10 in DVOA on both Offense and Defense after Week 14. In an indication of how much turnover there's been in parts of the NFL, none of those five teams (Rams, Eagles, Vikings, Saints and Chargers) made the playoffs in 2016.

The Chiefs, Cowboys, Steelers, Falcons and Patriots also rank in the top-10 on offense, while the Jaguars, Broncos, Panthers, Ravens and Cardinals rank in the top-10 on defense.

The Seahawks, who have consistently been one of the NFL's top teams in DVOA during the Russell Wilson era, are just outside the top-10 in both categories.

NFL Won't Punish Seahawks For Actions Against Jaguars

Dec 12, 2017 9:17 AM

No members of the Seattle Seahawks will be suspended for their actions at the end of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to a league official.

However, the NFL is still reviewing the melee under the standard process.

The finish to Jacksonville's victory included fights on consecutive plays as the Jaguars were kneeling to run out the clock and Seattle's defensive linemen continued their rush at full strength.

Seahawks lineman Quinton Jefferson was ejected and a drink was thrown at him from the stands as he was running off the field. He turned back and began arguing with fans who were wearing clothes with Jaguars logos. When more drinks were thrown at him, including one that nearly hit his head, Jefferson rushed toward the railing separating the field from the stands and briefly began climbing it. A member of the Seahawks' equipment staff pulled him off.
