Dec 29, 2016 3:33 PM

Tom Coughlin is interviewing for the Jacksonville Jaguars' head coaching vacancy.

Coughlin was the first coach in Jaguars history and guided the franchise to a 68-60 record and a pair of AFC Championship Game appearances from 1995 to 2002.

The Jaguars fired Coughlin after the 2002 season. The Giants hired him in 2004, and he went on to compile a 102-90 record and win two Super Bowls.

Only Steelers Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA (Infographic)

Dec 21, 2016 10:38 AM

The NFL has very teams this season that excel in all facets of the game. Further evidence of this issue shows itself in the fact that there is only one team ranking in the top-10 in both Football Outsiders' Offensive and Defensive DVOA: the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are 9-5 after winning five straight games and must beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 to ensure their place in the playoffs. Pittsburgh ranks third in total DVOA and first in Weighted DVOA.

Last season, the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs ranked in the top-10 on both sides of the ball. The Chiefs are the closest team to joining the Steelers in the top-10 in both Offensive and Defensive DVOA at 13th and 12th.

The Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots rank first and second overall in DVOA as they rank second and third, respectively in Offensive DVOA but 20th and 19th in Defensive DVOA. The Atlanta Falcons rank first in Offensive DVOA, 27th in Defensive and fourth overall. The Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders have similar splits as the Cowboys and Patriots, while the Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants are the inverse of those teams with top-5 defenses and offenses below the NFL mean.

Some Jaguars Upset Gus Bradley Flew On Team Charter After Firing

Dec 21, 2016 8:06 AM

Some Jacksonville Jaguars players didn't think it was right to have Gus Bradley fly back home on the team's charter Sunday after he was fired.

"Yeah, that sucked," Sen'Derrick Marks said. "If I had an opinion on if I thought that was the right move, I don't think that was the right way to do it. He had to ride the plane home back that way, but that ain't my call. They did it. They made the move.

"Gus was very cordial about it. Spoke with everybody. Came through the plane shaking hands and just talking with people. Gus has always been a great person in that aspect, but I don't think we as players were in the mood or were ready to actually see that at that moment."

Bradley spoke with many players, assistant coaches and team personnel on the two-hour flight from Houston to Jacksonville.

"It's a tough situation, because you love the guy and you know this is it; we're going home for the last time with him, and then we're not going to get a chance to have him in the building again," Paul Posluszny said.

Making the situation even more awkward was that a lot of players found out about the firing via social media.

Jaguars Targeting Tom Coughlin For Head Coaching Job

Dec 20, 2016 6:09 PM

A day after firing Gus Bradley, the Jacksonville Jaguars have confirmed that Tom Coughlin is a candidate to become the team's next head coach.

Coughlin, who coached the New York Giants last season, got his first head gig with the Jaguars.

"Tom Coughlin is someone we'd be interested in talking to," Dave Caldwell said.

"He's got so much experience on myself or any coach we have in this building and he's a great individual, and I think you can always learn from people."

Coughlin went 68-60 over eight years in Jacksonville, with four trips to the playoffs. He went 102-90 in 12 years with the Giants -- including two Super Bowl titles.

Gus Bradley Fired By Jaguars

Dec 19, 2016 4:19 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired Gus Bradley as head coach.

Bradley had the worst winning percentage in NFL history.

“I thanked Gus Bradley today for his commitment to the Jacksonville Jaguars over the past four seasons,” owner Shad Khan said in a statement. “As anyone close to our team knows, Gus gave his staff and players literally everything he had. Our players competed for Gus and I know they have great respect for him, as do I. Gus also represented the Jaguars, the Jacksonville community and the NFL in nothing less than a first-class manner as our head coach. That counts for a lot. It is unfortunately evident that we must make a change. I thought it would be best to do it immediately after today’s result so Gus can step away, relax and regroup with his family during the Christmas and holiday season.”

Khan confirmed that Dave Caldwell will remain and will oversee the coaching search to find Bradley’s replacement.

Blake Bortles Already Has Offseason Training Plans

Dec 15, 2016 7:36 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars may have a new coaching staff in 2017, but Blake Bortles has already made plans for offseason training.

Bortles' training will include returning to the Los Angeles area and working with instructor Tom House and his staff.

"Get to work as soon as possible to try and make things better," Bortles said.

Bortles spent time in California after the 2014 season, but not as much last offseason.

"We had a lot of guys here so I thought it was important to be here and be with those guys and working with them," Bortles said. "Maybe that was best for me or maybe not. It's part of figuring out your routine in the off-season. When I went out there [after 2014], I felt good and I think the play was definitely better than it has been this year. So maybe that's what I need to do and where I need to be."
