49ers Could Face Five-Man Defensive Line From Jaguars

Oct 24, 2014 11:04 PM

The San Francisco 49ers could face a five-man defensive line from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Tennessee Titans used that formation to strong effect last week against the 49ers. The 49ers only had 20 yards and one first down in four fourth quarter drives against the formation.

Jags' GM: We're Fully Committed To Building Through Draft

Aug 5, 2014 4:34 AM

Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell has a difficult job in remaking the NFL's worst roster.

"We’ve made the commitment to build this through the draft," said Caldwell. "That’s part of the reason I took this job. Everybody says "I want to build through the draft, I want to build through the draft" but only a select number of them actually commit to it. I firmly believe in doing it. I know we’re going to go through some adversity doing that, but in the long-term, you’ll see success through it. Obviously, we have to pick the right players. I feel like that’s the way to do it, and I felt like this was a market we could do that. The owner is committed to doing it. The head coach is committed to doing it. That’s what we’re going to do."

Jaguars Lose Luke Joeckel For Season With Ankle Fracture

Jun 10, 2014 1:50 AM

Luke Joeckel will miss the remainder of the season with a right high ankle fracture.

Joeckel was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Joeckel had moved to left tackle this week following the Jaguars' trade of Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens.

Joeckel was injured when his right leg got caught underneath him when he was rolled on by several players at the end of a running play.

Gus Bradley said the injury is not career-threatening.

"They took an X-ray a little bit lower [of Joeckel's leg]. They didn't see it," Bradley said. "They went up and took a little higher X-ray and saw it."

Jaguars Reach Financing Deal On Stadium Improvements

Sep 9, 2014 1:15 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed to terms on funding enhancements to EverBank Field.

The Jaguars will pay $20 million and Jacksonville's $43 million public money contribution will come from existing revenue sources that already are used for stadium purposes.

The improvements, if approved, will include the biggest video scoreboards “in the world,” a new scoreboard control room, and a new platform area in the north end zone.

“Everyone who attends an event at EverBank Field is going to fall in love with these improvements,” team president Mark Lamping said.  “We owe our fans nothing less than the very best in-stadium experience.  This up-to-date stadium technology will give fans the best in video quality, real-time content, out-of-town game action, fantasy football statistics, multiple-angle replays and create a personality for EverBank Field which is distinctly Jacksonville.”
