Texans Will Make 'Decision' On Deshaun Watson Before Training Camp

Jun 15, 2021 9:04 AM

The Houston Texans haven't said much about Deshaun Watson lately, but Nick Caserio opened up a bit on Monday.

"We're taking it one day at a time and really control the things we can control," Caserio said in an appearance on Sports Radio 610, when asked whether the organization has addressed the Watson situation with the other players on the team. "The players have been focused on their attitude and their approach in the building, and they've handled everything very well."

The first-year general manager then made a telling remark.

"I don't have any additional comments about anything," Caserio said. "I think we're respectful of what's happening, respectful of the process and everybody that's involved. The most important thing is for all of us, the coaches and players and myself included, is to focus on the things we can control. As we get more information, as we get closer to training camp, we'll try to make the best decision for the Houston Texans, whatever that entails."

Former Teammate: Deshaun Watson Wants To Play For Broncos

Jun 10, 2021 9:00 PM

Deshaun Watson wants to join the Denver Broncos, former teammate Kareem Jackson said on a podcast.

Watson requested a trade from the Houston Texans before multiple lawsuits alleging sexual assault and inappropriate behavior were filed against the quarterback.

"I've got a great relationship with Deshaun," Jackson, who plays for the Broncos, told former NFL player Aqib Talib on his "Catchin' Fades" podcast. "I've been talking to him the last couple of weeks, man, and like, all he's been telling me is like, 'Jack, just tell 'em, like, that's where I want to be.' ... He's like, 'I want to be in Denver.'"

Watson is scheduled to make $10.5 million in 2021 on the fifth-year option of his rookie contract. Because of the contract extension he signed in September 2020, Watson's salary jumps to $35 million in 2022.

Texans' Tyrod Taylor Eager For Chance To Start

Jun 3, 2021 10:22 PM

Tyrod Taylor made it clear Thursday that he expects to be the Houston Texans' starting quarterback this season.

"Of course, yes, Deshaun [Watson] played at a very high level," said Taylor in his first public comments since signing with the team. "He's played at a very high level throughout his career. I've been a fan of his and I know him personally.

"But the opportunity to be able to start here is something that I look forward to."

Taylor's one-year deal is worth up to $12.5 million. He signed with the Texans on March 16, the same day the first of 22 lawsuits was filed against Watson.

Prior to the lawsuits, Watson had requested a trade.
