Nick Caserio: Texans Take Deshaun Watson Situation Seriously

Mar 30, 2021 8:49 AM

Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio has weighed in for the first time on the allegations that Deshaun Watson engaged in sexual misconduct with multiple women he hired for massages.

"It's a legal process so we're certainly respectful of that," Caserio said. "We certainly take them very seriously. The allegations, what's been discussed, are certainly troubling. Organizationally that's not something that we can condone, those types of actions. But, again, we'll let the legal process take care of itself."

The last time Caserio spoke publicly about Watson, it was to say the Texans wouldn't grant his trade request. Since then 19 women have filed lawsuits against the quarterback.

Deshaun Watson's Lawyer Says Allegations Are False

Mar 24, 2021 8:52 AM

In a statement, Deshaun Watson's lawyer, Rusty Hardin, says that allegations of sexual assault against the quarterback are false, and he says that one of the plaintiffs who has brought a case against Watson attempted to blackmail him.

Hardin issued a lengthy statement to Pro Football Talk:

"I want to emphasize at the outset that we and Deshaun recognize that sexual assault and harassment are not only unlawful, but morally wrong. It takes courage for women to come forward to report being mistreated, particularly when they attach their names to a lawsuit," Hardin began. "We do not take these allegations lightly. However, fairness to the accused is equally as important."

Multiple Teams Remain Interested In Trading For Deshaun Watson

Mar 19, 2021 2:39 PM

Several NFL teams remain interested in trading for Deshaun Watson despite multiple sexual assault civil lawsuits against him.

The Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos are interested in Watson.

The Houston Texans, however, have no interest in trading Watson.

Watson signed a four-year, $156 million contract extension last September that includes $111 million guaranteed.

"We need to know more facts before making a firm decision on a trade, but, yes, we're still interested," an NFL executive said. "How could you not be interested in Deshaun Watson possibly being your quarterback? The guy is an incredible talent."

Lawyer Claims He Has Nine Clients With Claims Against Deshaun Watson

Mar 19, 2021 8:44 AM

Attorney Tony Buzbee claims he has nine clients who have assault claims against Deshaun Watson.

It started with a single assault claim, but in two days the number has skyrocketed.

"The Buzbee Law Firm has now been hired by nine women to bring cases against Deshaun Watson," Buzbee said on social media. "The allegations are similar. We have filed three, and, as we complete our due diligence, will file the remaining ones in due course. We are talking to several others. Cornelia and I appreciate the kind words, and outpouring of support for these brave women who are wiling to come forward and be heard. No matter what you do in life, there will always be detractors. As my dad always said: 'If you are right, go ahead!' And so we go."

The three cases filed to date arise from massages that Watson allegedly tried to make into sexual encounters.

Deshaun Watson Has Third Lawsuit Filed Against Him

Mar 18, 2021 1:10 PM

A third lawsuit alleging misconduct against Deshaun Watson has been filed.

The third plaintiff claims Watson forced her to perform oral sex during a December 28, 2020 massage.

The incident allegedly happened at a Houston office building. The plaintiff claims that, as the massage proceeded, Watson “got more aggressive” and eventually “coerced her to move her mouth toward his penis, forcing her to perform oral sex on him.”

The plaintiff claims she did not consent to the conduct, and that the “blacked out for a few minutes from the fear.”

Deshaun Watson Sued By Massage Therapist For 'Civil Assault'

Mar 17, 2021 1:34 PM

Deshaun Watson has been sued by a massage therapist over an alleged inappropriate contact in her home in March 2020, described as a "civil assault."

The lawsuit alleges Watson booked a massage on March 30, 2020, with a massage therapist who regularly works in her home. After leaving the room, the massage therapist alleges she returned to find Watson lying on the massage table with just a small towel covering his groin area.

The lawsuit says the plaintiff "began to feel extremely uncomfortable" and "it became apparent that Watson wanted a massage for only one reason -- sex." It accuses Watson of exposing himself and subsequently touching the woman.

Watson responded on Twitter to the lawsuit on Tuesday night, saying he rejected "a baseless six-figure settlement demand," and that this is "about clearing my name, and I look forward to doing that." At the time of his statement, Watson said he had not seen the lawsuit.

"I have never treated any woman with anything other than the utmost respect," Watson said in his statement.

Texans Acquire RT Marcus Cannon From Patriots

Mar 15, 2021 9:10 AM

The New England Patriots have traded right tackle Marcus Cannon to the Houston Texans in a deal that also involves a swap of mid-to-late-round draft picks, according to sources.

Cannon opted out of the 2020 season. Sources claim a catalyst for the trade was that he had not reported to the Patriots for a physical and workout -- because of COVID-19 considerations -- with the team's other players who opted out.

Cannon, a non-Hodgkins lymphoma survivor, is from Texas.
