Texans Gather At Deshaun Watson Event In Potential Protocol Violation

Dec 17, 2020 8:54 AM

At least six members of the Houston Texans, including Deshaun Watson, attended a grand opening for the quarterback's new restaurant franchise Tuesday.

NFL COVID-19 protocols prohibit more than three players from gathering.

A minority owner of the cheesesteak franchise Lefty's, Watson was joined at the event by Tytus Howard, Duke Johnson, Laremy Tunsil, Roderick Johnson and Brandin Cooks.

When reached for comment on the event, league spokesperson Brian McCarthy said, "We are aware of the event but will decline further comment."

On Wednesday, when Watson was asked whether the event was following the NFL's protocols, Watson said, "Yes, for sure."

Deshaun Watson Isn't Motivated By Bears Passing On Him

Dec 10, 2020 8:46 AM

The Chicago Bears had a chance to draft Deshaun Watson in 2017, but instead traded up to the No. 2 pick to select Mitchell Trubisky.

They've since benched Trubisky once this season before moving back to him as their starter.

"It's no motivation. It's what the organization went with," Watson said of Chicago passing on him. "I have no ties, nothing against the Chicago Bears or the organization. Of course, the media's gonna make stories and like you said, for those fans, they're gonna of course say something about it.

"For me personally, it's no motivation, nothing like that. They did what they did. And just keep pushing forward. They thought that was the best situation for themselves at that time. For me, it's no motivation, I respect and got all the respect for those players and coaches and ownership."

Watson has made two Pro Bowls and appeared in three playoff games.

Deshaun Watson: 'Very Important' That Texans Re-Sign Will Fuller

Dec 4, 2020 8:58 AM

Will Fuller has been suspended for six games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, but that doesn't change Deshaun Watson's opinion on his future with the Houston Texans.

The quarterback thinks it's "very important" that the receiver, playing on his fifth-year option, is back in Houston in 2021.

"Will knows that we all love him," Watson said. "He always do the right thing and then one slip-up just got popped. But we always going to have his back. Will's my brother. The whole organization knows that too. And you know, make sure that we get him back for next year, especially in this organization."

Watson was asked if it was important for the Texans to re-sign Fuller, who will be a free agent this offseason.

"That's very important," Watson said. "That's definitely one guy that I'm going to be working on this last month and offseason, for sure."
