Brandin Cooks Takes Being Traded Three Times As Sign He's Wanted

Apr 30, 2020 9:18 PM

Brandin Cooks doesn't view being traded three times in six NFL seasons "as a negative."

Cooks has been traded by the Saints to the Patriots, by the Patriots to the Rams, and by the Rams to the Texans.

"The way that I look at it, I take it as a positive and that I'm wanted, and that I'm valued at a high level still," Cooks said Thursday. "You look at all of the trades, they all were for a first-rounder, and this one, going for a second-rounder. To be honest with you, I'm blessed to be able to go around and play with so many different teams and different quarterbacks and different organizations.

"... So I don't think of it as a negative. I look forward to it. I'm a guy that adjusts pretty quick, and wherever I go, like I tell people, I'm going to ball. So I'm not worried about that."

Los Angeles signed Cooks to a five-year, $81 million contract before the 2018 season.

Laremy Tunsil, Texans Agree To Record Three-Year, $66M Deal

Apr 24, 2020 4:38 PM

The Houston Texans and Laremy Tunsil have agreed to a three-year, $66 million contract extension.

The deal makes Tunsil the NFL's highest-paid offensive lineman and also includes $50 million in guaranteed money.

Tunsil negotiated the deal without using an agent.

At the end of last season, Bill O'Brien said the Texans wanted to keep Tunsil in Houston.

"Look, we want Laremy here," O'Brien said in January. "Laremy knows that. ... I can unequivocally state to you that we want Laremy here for a long time."

DeAndre Hopkins: There Was No Relationship With Bill O'Brien

Apr 22, 2020 9:16 AM

DeAndre Hopkins said he didn't have a relationship with Bill O'Brien prior to his trade from the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals.

“There was no relationship,” Hopkins said. “Make sure you put that in there. There’s not a lot to speak about.”

The Texans framed the trade as part of an economic reality. Hopkins signed a five-year extension in 2017 that guaranteed him $49 million, but that deal became outdated. Hopkins wanted another extension with an average of $22 million.

DeAndre Hopkins Was 'Preparing' For Trade From Texans

Apr 17, 2020 4:14 PM

DeAndre Hopkins wasn't surprised when he was traded by the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals at the start of the offseason.

Hopkins said he heard rumors about a potential trade as early as the start of the 2019 season.

"It wasn't a big surprise to me after the year," Hopkins said Friday. "I was preparing for it."

Hopkins was working out in Los Angeles with Julio Jones when he started hearing about a potential trade.

"I was very excited, actually, about it because [of] what Arizona has been building, having a young quarterback, a young team and also having veterans," Hopkins said.

Hopkins had hoped to restructure his contract with the Texans to the range of $18 million to $20 million annually.

Kliff Kingsbury: DeAndre Hopkins Trade Will Be Done By Draft

Apr 8, 2020 9:16 AM

Kliff Kingsbury believes the blockbuster trade that sent David Johnson to the Houston Texans for DeAndre Hopkins will be finalized by this month's NFL Draft.

The draft begins on April 23.

"There's not concern," the Arizona Cardinals coach said. "But those aren't official, as far as I know, at this point, but we'll get it done. Obviously the medical field and personnel have much bigger fish to fry at this point. And so, it's been slower than it would be, but I have no doubt it's going to be done before the draft."

The Cardinals and Texans agreed to the trade on March 16, but restrictions related to the coronavirus have kept the deal from being completed.
