The Houston Texans have claimed safety Kareem Jackson off waivers, one day after he was released by the Denver Broncos.

In a corresponding move, Houston placed Jimmie Ward (quad) on injured reserve.

Jackson, 35, has had a tumultuous season that has included two suspensions, most recently for four games. He has been ejected from two games for repeated violations of unnecessary roughness rules.

CJ Stroud has been ruled out by the Houston Texans for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Stroud suffered a concussion against the New York Jets on December 12th.

Davis Mills will start in place of Stroud for the Texans.

C.J. Stroud remains in the concussion protocol and is likely to miss a second straight game for the Houston Texans when they take on the Cleveland Browns this Sunday, according to sources.

"He should miss another game," one source said, adding that the Texans will continue to monitor Stroud's progress before making a final decision.

Stroud, who suffered a concussion in the Texans' 30-6 loss to the New York Jets on Dec. 10, isn't expected to practice Wednesday.

Case Keenum is the expected starter if Stroud can't play.

The Texans suffered a blow to their receiving corps as wide receiver Tank Dell suffered a season-ending fractured left fibula, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The injury occurred with 3:53 left in the first quarter of Houston's 22-17 victory over the Denver Broncos on Sunday, when Texans running back Dameon Pierce rushed for a 3-yard touchdown to put Houston up 9-0. Dell was blocking on the play, and one of his legs got caught in a pile of Broncos defenders as he fell to the ground. The medical cart came out for Dell as his teammates gathered around him. He was officially ruled out at halftime.
