Colts Score 38 Unanswered Against Texans

Oct 6, 2014 9:49 PM

The Indianapolis Colts wanted Sunday to be a playoff tuneup. Instead, the Super Bowl champs turned it into an offensive showcase. Peyton Manning threw three touchdown passes; Joseph Addai and Clifton Dawson ran for TDs; and the Colts scored on six of their first eight possessions in a 38-15 rout of Houston. In what was likely to be the last significant action for Indy's starters until mid-January when the AFC's No. 2 seed will play in the divisional round of the playoffs, Manning & Co. finished with 458 yards and scored 38 unanswered points, winning their sixth in a row. The Super Bowl MVP was 28-of-35 for 311 yards with a rating of 132.3 before leaving late in the third quarter. Three Indy running backs -- Addai, Dawson and Kenton Keith -- combined to give the Colts (13-2) their first 100-yard rushing day since Thanksgiving night, and Dallas' Clark broke the single-season franchise records for receptions and touchdown catches by a tight end.

Bucs Without Garcia, Texans Don't Start Schaub

Oct 6, 2014 9:49 PM

Tampa Bay quarterback Jeff Garcia was deactivated for Sunday's game at Houston with a bruised back, and Texans' quarterback Matt Schaub was also inactive after dislocating his left shoulder last week. It is the second straight game Garcia has been inactive after being injured early in Tampa Bay's game against Washington Nov. 25. Luke McCown was scheduled to start in his place, and Garcia will be the emergency third quarterback. Sage Rosenfels gets his second start of the season in place of Schaub.

Texans' RB Green Out For Year With Knee Injury

Oct 6, 2014 9:50 PM

The Houston Texans placed Ahman Green on injured reserve Friday, ending the season for the player signed to be their featured running back. Green missed Houston's last three games with a left knee injury that bothered him for months. He rushed for 260 yards on 70 carries this season, less than what the Texans expected when he signed a four-year, $23 million contract in March. Green rushed for 144 yards in Houston's first two wins but then sprained his knee in the loss to Indianapolis on Sept. 23. He's appeared in only four games since, and his best was a 16-carry, 44-yard effort against Jacksonville on Oct. 14. Houston ranks 23rd in rushing in the NFL, averaging 93 yards. Ron Dayne is the Texans' leading rusher, with 601 yards on 155 carries.

Texans' QB Schaub Questionable For Bucs Game

Oct 6, 2014 9:49 PM

Matt Schaub's chances of playing against Tampa Bay are slim as he recovers from a dislocated left shoulder, but Texans' Coach Gary Kubiak wouldn't rule him out for the week. "It sure looks like he's going to miss some time. Whether we're talking about the next four weeks or not, I don't think we're at that stage," Kubiak said. "I think it's very hopeful that he does come back and play some more this year." When pressed about the possibility of him playing this week, Kubiak said they should know more about his condition by Wednesday. "I just know that if we went and played today there's no chance," Kubiak said. "So I would say it's not good at this point."
