Schaub, Johnson Return In Texans' Win

Jul 10, 2014 11:45 PM

Andre Johnson was back; Mario Williams was solid; and the Houston Texans got the win. Reggie Bush? An afterthought. Johnson had 120 yards receiving and a touchdown, and Williams harassed Drew Brees all day to help the Texans to a 23-10 victory over the error-prone New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The Texans (5-5) scored 17 points before halftime and stayed on top with tough defense in the second half that kept the Saints (4-6), who had five turnovers, scoreless. Johnson had missed the last seven games with a knee sprain but was back to form on Sunday. He got in front of Jason David for a 73-yard touchdown pass early in the first quarter to put Houston ahead 7-3. Johnson pointed to the crowd as he entered the end zone and then jumped in the stands for congratulations from the fans.

Texan Sues City Of Houston Over Taser Arrest

Oct 31, 2014 4:40 AM

Houston Texans' offensive lineman Fred Weary is suing the city and two police officers for a November 2006 arrest in which he was shot with a Taser gun during a traffic stop. In his lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court, Weary is accusing the city and the officers of excessive force, assault, racial profiling, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution. "I have to put closure on this situation, and this is my first step to closure," Weary told KRIV-TV in Houston. "It's really taken a toll on my life and my family. I didn't know last year that it would affect me the way it has. It's my right that I need to do something about it." "I feel my rights have been violated that day last year," Weary told KRIV-TV. "I have had to deal with that for this whole entire year. I've thought about it a lot. It's been on my mind constantly."

Oct 17, 2014 7:07 AM

Looking to spark an offense that has scored just two touchdowns over the past three games, the Raiders will start Josh McCown at quarterback Sunday against Houston. McCown, Oakland's opening day starter, replaces Daunte Culpepper, who has struggled to move the offense in recent weeks after taking over for McCown in Week 4.

Rosenfels To Start For Texans Against Raiders

Jul 10, 2014 11:44 PM

Houston's Matt Schaub will not start Sunday's game against Oakland after suffering a concussion from a helmet-to-helmet hit last week in San Diego. With Schaub out, the Texans will go with Sage Rosenfels. It will be the third start of his career and his first since a 22-0 loss to Cleveland in 2005 when he was with Miami. Rosenfels has played most of the second half of each of the last two games with Schaub injured and has thrown five interceptions and five touchdowns.
