Will It Be Indy, Texas, Or Arizona For 2011 Super Bowl?

Jul 25, 2014 8:17 AM

Tony Dungy has given lots of big talks, including one in February that turned out pretty well for his Colts. Now he hoped to persuade NFL owners to let Indianapolis host the 2011 Super Bowl. "It's a lot different," Dungy said. "This is not like speaking to your team the night before the game. This will be fun. It'll be exciting." Indianapolis pulled out the star power to help present the city's bid to host the 2011 Super Bowl, with Dungy backed by Tony George, the chief executive officer of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and an executive vice president of the NCAA. The big names were needed with North Texas tapping Roger Staubach, the Hall of Fame quarterback with two Super Bowl rings with the Cowboys, to talk to owners. Glendale, Ariz., was the other finalist.

Green Strikes Unusual Deal For No. 30

Oct 21, 2014 5:24 AM

When Ahman Green arrived in Houston he figured he'd have to go deep into his pockets to get his beloved No. 30 from longtime Texan Jason Simmons. Green was right about the switch costing him, but not in the way he expected. Simmons said he'd gladly surrender the number if Green made the down payment on a home for a single parent. The deal was a relief to Green, who signed as free agent with the Texans after playing in Green Bay since 2000. The running back admitted to being nervous that he wouldn't be able to get his number.

Schaub Establishes Himself As Texans' Leader

Oct 21, 2014 5:25 AM

Matt Schaub wasted no time getting started on establishing himself as the leader of the Texans. The day he was traded from Atlanta, the quarterback was on the phone calling key members of the team to introduce himself and let them know what to expect from him. "That was big," Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson said after Houston's minicamp Thursday. "A lot of people don't do that when it's their first day with the team. I think just by him doing that he caught a lot of guys' attention."
