Bill O'Brien Compared DeAndre Hopkins To Aaron Hernandez

Mar 18, 2020 12:04 PM

Bill O'Brien allegedly compared DeAndre Hopkins to Aaron Hernandez during a heated meeting.

O'Brien thought Hopkins had too much influence over the Houston Texans' locker room.

"(O'Brien) started the meeting with telling DeAndre Hopkins this. ... He said: 'Hey, the last time I had to have a meeting like this, it was with Aaron Hernandez," said Michael Irvin.

Hopkins was confused and angered by the comparison and that the meeting "deteriorated" from there.

"Hopkins has a few kids from different women - (O'Brien) told DeAndre he doesn't like that he has his 'baby mamas' around sometimes, and from that, I think the relationship just went bad," Irvin added.

The Texans traded Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals this week in what has been described as one of the most lopsided in NFL history.

Johnathan Joseph Will Enter Free Agency

Mar 12, 2020 8:58 AM

The Houston Texans and Johnathan Joseph have agreed to part ways, allowing the cornerback to enter free agency.

The 35-year-old cornerback has spent the last nine seasons with Houston.

"Johnathan has been a consummate professional, team captain and one of the leaders of our defense for the past nine years," the Texans said in a statement. "It is rare for a player to sustain such a high level of play for over a decade and that says so much about him and his dedication to the game.

"He is an exceptional teammate, mentor, husband and father. His impact on and off the field makes him quite possibly the most celebrated free agent signing in franchise history. The entire Houston Texans organization thanks Johnathan for the contributions he made to our team and the Houston community. We wish him and his family all the best as he pursues free agency."

Joseph played fewer than 60% of the team's snaps in 2019.
