The Detroit Lions are opening the practice window for rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker.

Hooker tore his ACL last November while at Tennessee.

Despite the injury, the Lions took Hooker with the No. 68 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Dan Campbell said that a big reason for opening his practice window is for the team to start building him up. 

"Yeah, by rule we can't coach him, so that's why," Campbell said. "I mean we can't -- we can have him in meetings, but he can't be out there and going through any fundamental work. You've just got to kind of stand there. So, that's where it helps, to be able to actually do individual work with him, have him take a snap. That's why it's big. I mean it'd be nice to just do some of those things with him, but that's why you've got to get him on the roster. Otherwise, rules don't allow for him to do any of that."

The Lions will now have 21 days to activate Hooker onto the 53-man roster. If they do not, they'll revert to injured reserve for the remainder of the 2023 season. 

The Detroit Lions have lost seven consecutive games on Thanksgiving Day and Dan Campbell blames himself for this week's disappointing loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Despite shouldering the blame, Campbell says the Lions aren't entering "panic mode."

"The easy thing is to get in panic mode, and I know what it looks like and it wasn't good enough out there, but I'm not panicked," the head coach said. "We've got the right guys here. We know how to play, we've got to clean some things up and we'll have six to go when we get back. And the fight's on.

"They think this is going to be some cruise control; we're going to have to fight, scratch and fight and claw for everything," he added. "We have to. That's the type of team we are. That's where we're at."

The Lions are 8-3, having survived a scare from the Chicago Bears last week.

The Detroit Lions trailed 26-14 with 4:15 left on Sunday, but rallied for a 31-26 comeback win over the Chicago Bears.

Jared Goff believes the victory highlights just how good the Lions are this season.

"Not my best ball for about three and a half quarters but found a way to make it work there at the end," Goff said. "It's a sign of a good team. We're a resilient group. We're tough. We have a lot of courage and we don't back down from anything."

The Lions are now 8-2 for the first time since 1962.

Jason Myers sent the Seattle Seahawks to a 29-26 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday at Lumen Field when he hit a 43-yard field goal in the final seconds.

That kick also sent Week 10 of the NFL season into the record books.

The Seahawks' win over Washington was the fifth game of the day that was decided on a made field goal as time expired, joining the Cleveland Browns over the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Arizona Cardinals over the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions over the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Cleveland Browns traded wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions prior to Tuesday's deadline.

Detroit sent a 2025 sixth-round pick to Cleveland in the deal.

The Lions were looking to add depth after Marvin Jones Jr. recently stepped away to "take care of personal family matters."

Peoples-Jones, 24, is in his fourth season out of the University of Michigan as a sixth-round draft pick in 2020.
