Jimmy Garoppolo 'Good To Go' For MNF

Oct 28, 2023 4:49 PM

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who missed last week's game with a back injury, is "good to go" for Monday night at the Detroit Lions, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said Saturday.

"Yeah, I think he's got a little pep in his step," McDaniels said. "Again, he's much the same as everybody else is...he wants to get us headed in the right direction and start doing some things that we haven't been doing as well better. But good leadership, good energy at practice, good execution. Working with everybody across the board, and just really trying to put our focus where it needs to be and have good days and stack them this week and hopefully finish with a good one today in the red zone, some of our work down there, and in the scoring area."

Lions' Dan Campbell: 'Probably Needed' Blowout Loss To Refocus

Oct 22, 2023 7:38 PM

There were no excuses made as Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell described his team's 38-6 blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

"They kicked our ass," Campbell stated bluntly in defeat.

The Lions' hiccup at Baltimore was their first road loss of the season, as the defense allowed the most points in a game this season, with MVP candidate Lamar Jackson helping the Ravens put up 503 total yards of offense.

Winners of four straight games, the Lions entered Baltimore tied for the NFL's best record through Week 6, but Campbell said "we probably needed" the loss as a reality check to stay on track.

Sean Payton Points To 2022 Lions As Message To 'Keep Fighting'

Oct 19, 2023 9:10 AM

The Denver Broncos are 1-5 but Sean Payton is trying to keep the team motivated.

"There's a fine line here between a groove and a rut," Payton said. "You take a look, and I'll give you an example -- Detroit. A year ago, I watched it as a media member, covering a handful of tough losses. They were 1-6. I know [coach] Dan [Campbell] well, and you keep fighting. There's a grit element involved. Some mental toughness that's involved. Pretty soon, here they are at the end of the season. They were eliminated before [they played their final game], but they were in contention. Here they are now as one of those teams. We're kind of in that position. We're bowing up, and we have to."

Payton is in his first season as Denver's head coach.
