Jared Goff: Detroit Media Almost 'Relish In Negativity'

Apr 12, 2024 7:59 AM

Jared Goff would like the media that covers the Detroit Lions to realize that this is the start of a new era for the franchise, and they can stop focusing on the failures of the past.

"I have this like, I probably need to drop it pretty soon here because I'm hopefully gonna be in Detroit for a long time, but I have this thing with our local media where like they almost like relish in negativity at times," Goff said on Willbo's "Trading Cards" podcast hosted by Robbie McInerny, his former teammate at Cal, and Will McInerny. "And maybe that's what gets clicks and that's what sells, but it's no longer what they need to live in.

"Like, hey guys, we have a good team. We've had success. We can be happy about that, we can celebrate that and not have to write about how we're constantly the underdog. No, teams are gonna be gunning for us now. We won the division and all that. I'm probably overthinking it in my head and it's the chip on my shoulder and the competitor in me."

The Lions won the NFC North last season, their first division title since 1993, and then went on to win their first two playoff games since the 1991 season.

Wanted For Weeks, Cameron Sutton Turns Himself In

Apr 1, 2024 8:41 AM

Veteran NFL cornerback Cameron Sutton, wanted for weeks by police in Florida for his alleged involvement in a domestic violence case, turned himself in Sunday.

Police had been unable to locate Sutton since March 7, when an arrest warrant was issued for him. They had responded to a call early that morning at a house in Lutz, Florida, where Sutton allegedly battered a woman before fleeing the scene.

"After weeks of evading law enforcement, this man has finally made the right choice to turn himself in," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "Domestic violence has no place in our community, and no one is above the law here in Hillsborough County."

Sutton is facing a charge of domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Sutton, 29, joined the Detroit Lions as an unrestricted free agent in 2023 on a three-year, $33 million contract after spending his first six NFL seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Lions released him March 21, the day after the team found out about the warrant for his arrest.
