Joe Thomas was strongly opposed to the Cleveland Browns firing Rob Chudzinski.
Thomas was named to his seventh Pro Bowl this season.
“You look at the great franchises. They don’t fire your coach after the first season. You can’t do it,” Thomas said.
The Browns went 4-12 this season.
“It sets everything back,” Thomas said. “You just hit the reset button. Anytime you hit the reset button, it severely damages the organization, and it lengthens the amount of time that it takes to get back to the playoffs and turn the team into a consistent winner. … I think that this organization needs continuity and that’s the only chance that we’re going to have to turn this team into a consistent winner.”
The Cleveland Browns have fired Rob Chudzinski.
Chudzinski was hired on Jan. 11 of last year, but became convinced that he wasn't their answer moving forward.
The Browns finished 4-12 on the season.

Josh Gordon has had a breakout second season, but was the subject of trade rumors at the deadline, which was unsettling for him.
Gordon is averaging 127.3 receiving yards per game for the Cleveland Browns.
"I had to talk him off the ledge, so to speak, when they were talking about trading him," NFL Media's Michael Irvin revealed on Thursday's edition of the "M&M Podcast." "He was so hurt and crushed. I was like, 'Man, you are the only property of value.' But he said he wants to be in Cleveland and wants to win in Cleveland, so I respect that."
Jason Campbell will be the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in Week 14 against the New England Patriots.
Campbell has a 1-3 record in starts this season with the Browns.
Campbell suffered a concussion in Week 12.
The Cleveland Browns have signed Caleb Hanie.
The Browns are dealing with concussions to both Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden.
Hanie backed up Jay Cutler for four seasons with the Chicago Bears and was Peyton Manning's backup last season.
Josh Gordon caught 10 passes for 261 yards and two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars one week after catching 14 passes for 237 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Gordon becomes the first player to ever record 200+ yards receiving in consecutive games and set a new record of 498 yards in two games.
Andre Johnson previously had the record of 461 yards in consecutive games last season.
