Jeff Garcia Would Return To NFL If Team Interested

May 18, 2014 8:20 AM

Jeff Garcia is 43 years old but he believes he could still play in the NFL.

"That fire still burns," Garcia told "NFL AM" on Wednesday. "I'm also realistic, though. I'm 43 years old. Who's gonna want a 40-plus-year-old quarterback to come back and play for them?"

Garcia's wife is a native of Cleveland and told him to call the Browns after Brian Hoyer was lost for the season with a torn ACL.

Garcia last played in 2011 with the Houston Texans.

Browns Sign Player Who Already Had Torn ACL

May 17, 2014 9:44 PM

The Cleveland Browns signed Charles Johnson off the practice squad of the Green Bay Packers last Saturday.

When Johnson underwent his physical with the Browns, they discovered he had a torn ACL. Johnson has been placed on the non-football injury list.

NFL rules say that players signed off practice squads must be there for three weeks, which means Johnson will use a roster spot.

The Browns play the Packers this week.

Johnson took the roster spot of Brian Hoyer, who is also out for the season with a torn ACL.

Brian Hoyer Out For Season With Torn ACL

Nov 1, 2014 8:00 PM

Brian Hoyer is out for the season after suffering a complete tear of the ACL in his right knee.

Hoyer will undergo surgery to repair the knee.

"I talked to Brian," Chudzinski said. "Obviously he is disappointed. But if you know him, and you guys have been around him a little bit to know how positive he is and what type of person he is, he's already thinking about when he's going to be back.

"I reassured him of that as well. I wanted him to know what he meant to us, but he'll be back. He'll make it back."

The Browns will start Brandon Weeden in Hoyer's place.

Brian Hoyer sprained his right knee in the first quarter of Thursday's 37-24 win over the Buffalo Bills.

The Cleveland Browns fear Hoyer tore his ACL, but it will not be known until he undergoes an MRI.

Hoyer won the starting job in Week 3.

"It's serious enough that we'll get an MRI on it," coach Rob Chudzinski said.
