Browns To Hire Jim Brown

Sep 11, 2014 6:59 PM

Jim Brown will be hired by the Cleveland Browns, presumably in a personal services capacity.

Brown is the greatest player in the history of the Browns and being back within the organization could allow the team to better embrace their past.

Brown had tumultuous relationship with former owner Randy Lerner.

Trent Richardson Sits Out OTAs With Pulled Muscle In Shin

Sep 11, 2014 6:56 PM

Trent Richardson sat out organized team activities on Thursday with the Cleveland Browns due to a pulled muscle in his shin.

Richardson may miss the Browns' mandatory minicamp June 4-6.

"It's precautionary," Rob Chudzinski said. "We're holding him out. We've got minicamp in a week and a half. He may miss that. I'm not sure. We'll take it day-by-day.''

Richardson battled through injuries in his rookie season, leading the Browns to be cautious with him now.

Haslam Contradicts Affidavit, Denies Knowledge Of Scamming Customers

Sep 11, 2014 6:59 PM

Jimmy Haslam, owner of the Cleveland Browns, denies knowledge of rebate fraud that his truck-stop business is being accused of practicing.

In unsealed search warrant affidavit, there are accusations that Haslam and Pilot Flying J president Mark Hazelwood were aware of the practice because they attended sales meetings in which it was discussed.

Haslam went on to apologize for "the actions of our people."

"It's a blip. It may be a substantial blip," Haslam said. "But in no way, shape or form does it affect my ownership of the Browns."

Haslam could be indicted, which would impact his ownership due to how image-conscious the NFL has become.

Browns To Give Jason Campbell Opportunity To Beat Out Weeden

Sep 11, 2014 6:56 PM

Jason Campbell will have a legitimate shot to beat out Brandon Weeden for the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback job, according to sources.

Campbell signed a two-year deal worth $3.75 million, including $500,000 guaranteed.

"I feel good about the group," said Rob Chudzinski on the final day of the draft. "How all that plays out, we'll see and know in time. I'm excited about Brandon and the progress he's made thus far, learning the system to the point we are right now, which is still very early.

"I've also been pleased with Jason [Campbell] and the role he's taken on being there.

"We want to give these guys every opportunity to succeed and give Brandon, since you are asking about him specifically, every opportunity to succeed."
