49ers And Redskins Courting Briggs?
The Redskins and 49ers are believed to be most interested in linebacker Lance Briggs.
Briggs is looking for around $20 million in guaranteed money.
Washington Interested In Chad, Randy, And Hackett
Yet again this offseason, Redskins' officials would be interested in trading for Chad Johnson should he become available, according to sources who spoke with the Washington Post.
Randy Moss and D.J. Hackett are two other targets for the Redskins, as well.
Redskins Cut Struggling WR Lloyd
The Washington Redskins severed ties with struggling wide receiver Brandon Lloyd on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.
Lloyd had caught only 25 passes in two seasons with the team.
Zorn: Campbell Will Be Starting QB
There is no doubt in the mind of new Washington head coach Jim Zorn that Jason Campbell will be the team's first option at quarterback next season, according to ESPN.com.
"Jason Campbell's going to be the No. 1 QB," Zorn told ESPN on Friday afternoon at the NFL Scouting Combine. "I'm going to speak with Todd and make sure he knows he's important to this club. But he's not going to get that chance. That's because Jason Campbell's our starting QB and I'll tell you why. Jason Campbell must know that he is the starter. I don't want to go into this minicamp, I don't want to go into training camp with him not knowing or have this thing up for grabs. He's our starter."
Redskins Name Sherman Smith O-Coordinator
The Redskins brought in a familiar face for new Head Coach Jim Zorn, naming Sherman Smith offensive coordinator on Friday, as reported by Yahoo Sports.
Smith spent the past 13 seasons coaching running backs for the Titans and was a teammate of Zorn?s for seven years with the Seahawks.
?Sherman will bring outstanding leadership to our team, and we are fortunate have this opportunity to add him to our coaching staff,? said Zorn, who was named coach of the Redskins last Saturday.
Redskins Hire Seahawks RBs Coach Mitchell
The Washington Redskins hired Stump Mitchell as their new running backs coach on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
"He's been a running back in this league, and I know him very well," new Washington Coach Jim Zorn told the AP. "And I know how he teaches. He's an excellent teacher."
Redskins Downplay Johnson Rumors
A Redskins' source downplayed the seriousness of a report that indicated the franchise is interested in trading for Chad Johnson.
The source, however, didn't rule out the possibility.

Numerous league sources have confirmed to the Washington Post that the Redskins would like to trade for Chad Johnson.
Two sources say that Johnson wants to be dealt to Washington and that he would like a new contract.
Johnson's agent Drew Rosenhaus is trying to broker a trade.
