'Fairly Minor' Surgery Sidelines Randle El

Sep 6, 2014 3:17 AM

Redskins wide receiver Antwaan Randle El underwent 'minor' arthroscopic knee surgery on Monday but is expected to be ready to return to the field in June, according to The Washington Post. "He'll be here for the next set of OTAs," said coach Jim Zorn, who did not mention Randle El's surgery. "This should be a three to four-week deal, I think. I haven't heard any report. This is just what the preliminary thoughts were when they went in." Last week Randle El expressed his excitement in the new offensive philosophy of Zorn. "There are just a lot of options," Randle El said. "You run to get open and the quarterback plays off of you. The passing game, the offense, is up-tempo. He [Zorn] wants to get in and out of the huddle, get to the ball and get moving."

Redskins 2nd Rounder Oversleeps, Misses Practice

May 13, 2014 11:48 PM

Washington's second round pick Fred Davis overslept and missed the team's practice on Sunday just his third day in the NFL, according to the Associated Press. The tight end failed to wake up at his hotel and met with Coach Jim Zorn in his office. "Everybody was scouring," Coach Jim Zorn said after the practice. "Nobody heard from him, so there was one of two scenarios: either there was some real trouble and we needed to find him, or he screwed up. I haven't even got to talk to him yet. I know he has been found. I believe it is more in the 'I screwed up' category." He was the 48th pick out of Cal in last weekend's NFL Draft.
