Marlin McKeever, a two-time All-American at USC who played 13 years in the NFL, died Friday of head injuries from a fall at his home earlier this week. He was 66.
Kathleen O'Guin, director of public relations and marketing at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, said McKeever died at the hospital with his family at his bedside.

Washington Signs Troy Vincent
Washington Redskins tried to address the problems of their secondary by signing five-time Pro Bowl defensive back Troy Vincent.
Vincent, whose 47 interceptions ranks second among active players, was released from Buffalo Bills' injured-reserve list last week. The 15-year veteran hurt his hamstring in preseason and aggravated it in the season opener against New England, but he said last week he had fully recovered and was ready to take offers from other teams.
Gibbs Not Afraid Of Change, But Will Stick With Brunell For Now
Coach Joe Gibbs said Monday that Mark Brunell will continue to start at quarterback on Sunday at Indianapolis, further delaying the regular season debut of the 24-year-old Jason Campbell.
Following many of his incomplete passes on Sunday, fans would chant Campbell's name.
"I'm not afraid to change anything, and I don't think I would hesitate to change anything," Gibbs said. "Whatever is best for our football team. But certainly right now, changing Mark, I don't think that's the answer."
Redskins' Rogers Has Surgery On Thumb
Washington Redskins cornerback Carlos Rogers had surgery Monday on a broken right thumb, although the injury might not keep him out of next week's game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Rogers had three screws inserted in his thumb, which he injured during Sunday's loss to Tennessee.
"We'll just evaluate him as the week goes on," trainer Bubba Tyer said.
Redskins Sign K Novak To Replace Hall
Nick Novak is taking over from John Hall as the Washington Redskins' kicker for the second time in as many years.
The Redskins signed Novak on Tuesday after the former University of Maryland kicker won a four-way competition among available free agents. He'll handle the kicking duties in Sunday's game against Tennessee.
Hall Could Be Done
John Hall, kicker for the Redskins, has a strained groin and thigh and his condition is so uncertain that the team will try out five possible replacements today, including Nick Novak, who filled in for Hall last season.
The Redskins also will bring in former Atlanta Falcons place kicker Todd Peterson; Tyler Jones, who was cut by the Redskins in training camp; and former Redskin Ola Kimrin for an early afternoon workout, sources said. The name of the other kicker could not be determined last night.
"We definitely have to do something about this," Coach Joe Gibbs said. "It seemed to act up on John and I thought he was compensating."
