Santana Moss, who missed two of the past three games with a strained hamstring, practiced for a third straight day and expects to play tomorrow when the Washington Redskins play host to the Carolina Panthers. Moss had sat out against Dallas, returned to have his worst day with the Redskins in Philadelphia and was inactive again last week at Tampa Bay.
"I've been waiting on a day like this to go out there and be able to do more," said Moss, who was hurt on Oct. 22 at Indianapolis. "I feel 10 times better than I did in Philly. I felt like I had healed, but I didn't have the strength I needed. As [this] week went on, I felt like I had the strength back. [Today] I ran swift. I ran confident. I ran hard."

Redskins' Moss Misses Bucs' Game
Redskins receiver Santana Moss was inactive for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers because of a left hamstring injury that kept him from practicing all week.
Source: Surgery To End Season For Portis
Already sidelined by the broken right hand that he sustained on Sunday afternoon, Redskins star tailback Clinton Portis will undergo surgery on his left shoulder, ESPN.com has learned, and will finish the least productive season of his career in the least palatable manner, on injured reserve.
Brunell Benched In Favor Of Campbell
Mark Brunell's 3-6 record has prompted Joe Gibbs to start Jason Campbell next week versus Tampa Bay.
"We're going to give Jason his opportunity and see if we can be more productive and see if we can get some more answers," Gibbs said.
Portis Could Be Done For Season
Bubba Tyer, the Redskins' director of sports medicine, said Clinton Portis would undergo surgery as soon as Monday to repair the fourth metacarpal bone in his right hand, which is the bone that runs below the ring finger. Tyer said Portis would have screws inserted to stabilize the bone.
Portis is expected to miss at least a month.
"It could be as long as four weeks, three or four, something like that," Tyer said. "He needs to be able to use his hands and function and be secure what he does with the football."
Portis Breaks Right Hand
Washington Redskins' running back Clinton Portis broke his right hand in the first half against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Portis, who rushed for 25 yards on six carries, left late in the first quarter and did not return. Portis entered with 498 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in seven games.
Portis partially dislocated his left shoulder in the preseason opener and has been bothered by other nagging injuries this season.
Moss Returns To Practice
Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss returned to practice yesterday, although not in a full capacity, while quarterback Mark Brunell rested, although he is scheduled to start Sunday in Philadelphia.
Moss missed last week's game and is nursing a hamstring injury, and said he will have to progress daily this week in order to play.
Gibbs Likely To Return?
Joe Gibbs has two years left on a $5 million per-year deal, but that hasn't kept many people to anticipate his departure from the Washington sidelines.
According to David Elfin, "He should be better rested now that he's no longer in charge of the offense. I believe that Gibbs will return to work with Campbell and to fulfill his contract, but that's far from a sure thing. If Gibbs retires for good, it would be hard to justify Williams or Saunders as his successor now."
Redskins' Moss, Patten Inactive Vs. Cowboys
Washington wide receiver Santana Moss missed the Redskins' game Sunday against the Cowboys with a left hamstring injury.
David Patten, one of Washington's backups at wideout, also was inactive with a left hamstring injury.
Redskins' Moss May Not Play Against Cowboys
Redskins receiver Santana Moss missed his sixth consecutive practice Friday with an injured left hamstring and isn't expected to play against the Cowboys.
Asked whether he'd ruled out Moss for Sunday's game, Redskins coach Joe Gibbs said: "Yeah. Looks more and more like it will be hard to have him go."
Could Fisher Land In Washington Or Dallas?
Titans' coach Jeff Fisher's name has been thrown around as a possible replacement for Joe Gibbs or Bill Parcells if either quits after the season.
