Mike Evans: Nobody's Pointing The Finger At Tom Brady

Oct 28, 2022 9:02 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost three-straight games, but Mike Evans says no one on the team is blaming Tom Brady for the struggles.

"He's the best to ever do it," Mike Evans said. "I mean, he hates losing. That's all he knows is winning and being 3-5 is not good enough. So we've got to turn it around and soon. Nobody is pointing the finger at Tom Brady. It's the whole team. It's a team game."

Some have pointed to Brady's extended break from training camp and occasional absences during the regular season as reasons why the offense hasn't come together.

NFL: Referees Weren't Seeking Mike Evans' Autograph

Oct 26, 2022 8:54 AM

The NFL said in a statement that a postgame interaction between two game officials and Mike Evans did not involve a request for an autograph.

Following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 21-3 loss Sunday to the Carolina Panthers, 1340 AM Fox Sports captured video of side judge Jeff Lamberth and line judge Tripp Sutter calling Evans' name. Evans then wrote something on a card they handed him.

After conversations with those involved, however, the league determined that Lamberth and Sutter weren't asking for an autograph.

"I wasn't signing my autograph, I'll tell you that," Evans said. "I talk to a lot of officials, we're all human beings. He's a nice guy, so we was talking about golf. That's all we was talking about."

NFL Network reported that Lamberth, like Evans, went to Texas A&M and wanted the receiver's phone number to give to a golf professional so he could give Evans lessons. Lamberth didn't have a card for Evans to write his number on, so he borrowed one from Sutter.

Tom Brady: 'No One Feels Good About Where We're At'

Oct 24, 2022 9:02 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have lost four of their last five games, dropping them to 3-4. In back to-back weeks, the Buccaneers have lost games in which they were double-digit favorites.

"No one feels good about where we're at, no one feels good about how we've played or what we're doing," Tom Brady said.

"We're all in it together. We've gotta go pull ourselves out of it."

Brady is below .500 seven games into the season for the first time since 2002.

"We're not playing well. We're not playing well as individuals, we're not playing well as a team," Todd Bowles said. "We're not coaching well. All around. We're not scoring enough on offense. We're not stopping them enough on defense. So as a result -- we have to wear this on our sleeve. We've got to be grown men. We're going to see what we're made of -- how many people can handle adversity? This is as dark as it's going to be right now.

"Those guys who are going to step up are going to show up this week in practice. Our leaders are going to lead. Our coaches are going to coach. We're just going to dig and keep our head down. It's a prideful football game. ... Either you can or you can't. We're going to see what we have going forward and see how many people crumble when it's dark, and see how many people step up and starting playing better.

"We as a team, starting with me and the coaches, and the players have got to be accountable as well -- it's a dark day for us losing the way we did and with the mistakes that we had, that we shouldn't have had," he continued. "You can't do nothing but pick your shirt up by the tail. We own it, we have to own it, to a man, we have to stand up here and own it and make no excuses, and we've just got to start digging."

Tom Brady Still Committed: 'No Retirement In My Future'

Oct 21, 2022 9:15 AM

Tom Brady is enduring one of his toughest seasons in recent memory, but the quarterback remains committed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"I think anytime you lose, it's not very fun for any of us," Brady, 45, said. "So I think we just gotta go play better. I think that's the reality to solving a lot of issues ... I've definitely been a part of seasons where we've not played as well as we're capable; I don't think it's as enjoyable for anyone. ... We're certainly not happy when it's not right. So we're working hard to get it right.

"It's Week 6, we're going into Week 7," he continued, "there's a lot of football (left). Our whole season's ahead of us."

Todd Bowles: 'Guys Living Off Super Bowl In Fantasy Land'

Oct 16, 2022 11:12 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles didn't mince words after his team fell to 3-3 after a 20-18 road loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, who had dropped four straight prior to Sunday and were led by a rookie quarterback in Kenny Pickett.

"We didn't take them lightly, No. 1. No. 2, I think guys that are living off the Super Bowl are living in a fantasy land," Bowles said. "You've gotta get your hands dirty and go to work like everybody else. We've been working hard and we've gotta work harder. Nobody's gonna give us anything. Nobody's gonna feel sorry. We've gotta go back as coaches, as players -- the time for talking is over. You either gotta put up or shut up."

Tom Brady Could Face Fine For Apparent Kick

Oct 14, 2022 8:41 AM

The NFL has looked at Grady Jarrett's roughing the passer penalty on Tom Brady from last Sunday to determine whether the quarterback attempted to kick the defensive tackle and if that warrants a fine, according to a report.

League fines for kicking are $10,500 for a first offense and $15,500 for a second.

Jarrett was flagged for slinging Brady to the ground during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 21-15 win over the Atlanta Falcons. It appeared Brady tried to kick Jarrett as both players were getting up, but he didn't make contact.
