Freeman Responds To Report, Suggests Smear Tactics From Bucs

Nov 2, 2014 12:34 AM

In a statement issued to Pro Football Talk, Josh Freeman explains that he has a prescription for Adderall due to ADHD. Freeman says that, last year, he accidentally took Ritalin instead of Adderall, tested positive for Ritalin, and agreed to submit to unannounced and repeated testing, resulting in his placement in Stage One.

“I have agreed to take, and have PASSED 46 NFL-regulated drug tests over the last year and a half,” Freeman says.

Rumors became rampant about Freeman after his relationship with the Tampa Buccaneers deteriorated.

“Unfortunately, it appears that some people who may have noticed the testing at my workplace have made hurtful and incorrect assumptions and chosen to disseminate inaccurate and very disturbing information,” Freeman says.  “It is a shame that when times have gotten tough, people have chosen to attack the character of others, rather than supporting each other.”

Josh Freeman In Stage One Drug Program

Jul 25, 2014 10:53 PM

Josh Freeman is a stage one participant in the NFL's drug program but is not one strike away from a suspension.

Freeman has obtained a temporary use exemption for a prescription drug that normally would be on the banned list, the sources said.

Freeman has not had any incidents that have placed him in jeopardy of suspension, such as a positive test of a banned street-drug substance, sources said.

Josh Freeman Seeks Trade From Buccaneers

Oct 16, 2014 10:54 PM

Josh Freeman is seeking a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after his demotion as starting quarterback.

The Buccaneers are now starting rookie Mike Glennon.

The Buccaneers' locker room reportedly did not object to Freeman's removal as starter, which makes other teams less likely to seek a trade for him.

May 18, 2014 7:45 AM

Drew Brees had just one touchdown and threw two interceptions, but the New Orleans Saints' improved defense kept them in the game as they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16-14 with a last second field goal.

The Saints had a +12.4 advantage in the Trench Counter, completing seven additional first downs and a better yards per play average. New Orleans had a +4 edge in Total/Rushes Completions.

Jimmy Graham had a monster game, catching 10 balls for 179 yards and a touchdown.

Josh Freeman struggled amid another round of reports suggesting his future with the Buccaneers is bleak. Freeman went 9-for-22 for 125 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Doug Martin rushed 29 times for 144 yards.

The Buccaneers scored a fourth quarter touchdown on a Brees' interception that had looked like the potential game-winner.

Josh Freeman Likely To Seek Trade From Buccaneers

Oct 31, 2014 3:47 PM

Josh Freeman is likely to seek a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before next month's deadline.

Freeman's relationship with Greg Schiano is moving beyond repair.

Several executives on other clubs believe Schiano's refusal to ever really endorse Freeman is an attempt to undermine general manager Mark Dominik, who drafted Freeman in the first round prior to Schiano's arrival from Rutgers.

Mike Glennon was taken in the third round this year and is seen as "Schiano's guy" within the organization.

Freeman is younger than Colin Kaepernick and Andy Dalton and has shown glimpses of strong play, but has been inconsistent.

The Minnesota Vikings, Tennessee Titans and Oakland Raiders could be interested in upgrading their quarterback situation.
