Josh Freeman Could Be Playing For Job This Season

Nov 6, 2014 11:05 AM

Josh Freeman will be playing for his job as quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to former teammate Ronde Barber.

Freeman has been inconsistent during his four seasons with the Buccaneers.

"I think Coach (Greg Schiano) wants to find out if Josh is the guy because Josh shows moments of complete brilliance," Barber said. "Yet he gives you the moments where you're scratching your head as well. It's kind of reflective of our season and as a whole last year.

"Coach Schiano did not draft him, even though (general manager) Mark (Dominik)'s married to him because he was with him when (former Bucs coach) Raheem (Morris) drafted him. But you have to believe that Josh Freeman is our franchise quarterback. He fits the build. He has the arm. He understands the mechanics of the game. Like I said, when he's good, he's really, really good. We just need him to be that player with more consistency."

Buddy Nix Admits Fitzpatrick Battling For Job During Catfished Call

Oct 31, 2014 1:37 PM

In a report from Deadspin, two 20-year-olds recorded a conversation between Buffalo Bills' general manager Buddy Nix and his counterpart from the Tampa Bay Buccaneeers, Mark Dominik.

The pranksters called the publicly listed number of the Bills claiming to be Dominik and asking to speak to Nix.

The call was actually transfered through to Nix and the pranksters hung up in a panic.

After several instances of phone tag, the two pranksters eventually had Nix and Dominik on the same line together and recorded the call.

Nix revealed his frustration with Ryan Fitzpatrick.

"We're still struggling here with our quarterback," Nix said. "We're not really struggling--he's going to have to do something, or we'll have to ... We just can't afford to pay that kind of money for a guy who's fighting for probably a backup job."
