Jerry Reese Takes Blame For Giants' Struggles

Oct 25, 2017 8:33 AM

Jerry Reese says he's the reason the New York Giants are 1-6 this season.

The Giants are on a bye this week and have the NFL's third-worst record. They finished 11-5 last season.

"This is the roster that I put together. I'm the reason we're 1-6," Reese said. "So we lose together, we win together. I believe everyone is accountable here for what goes on. We're 1-6 together. But you can put it all on me."

Reese says the blame should be in his direction, and he knows where the spotlight shines.

"It's the National Football League. If you can't take criticism, you should quit," Reese said. "If you're a general manager of a football team, or a player, or a quarterback, or you play any position, if you can't take criticism, you should quit."

Giants Aren't Ready To Consider Benching Eli Manning

Oct 23, 2017 3:41 PM

Ben McAdoo was asked whether the New York Giants may consider making a change at quarterback with Eli Manning continuing to struggle.

“It’s a coaching decision, but it’d be something that if it ever would get to that point, I’d want to have a conversation with Jerry (Reese) and ownership on it,” McAdoo said. “But it’s not to that point and I don’t see that point coming. Eli’s our quarterback. I have 100 percent confidence in Eli. We’re gonna get a week away from it, and we’re gonna come back fresh mind, fresh bodies and play better football.”

Geno Smith hasn't taken a snap this season while Davis Webb hasn't been active. Webb was selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft.

Odell Beckham's Injury Won't Impact Extension Talks With Giants

Oct 19, 2017 10:59 AM

Odell Beckham Jr. and the New York Giants are expected to pick up their discussions on a long-term contract this offseason.

John Mara doesn't believe Beckham's injury will interfere with those talks.

"I don't think it will have any effect because I think he's going to make a full recovery," Mara said.

The Giants also feel comfortable signing Beckham before he fully returns.

"I don't necessarily think so because I think our medical people feel pretty strongly that he'll make a full recovery. Knowing him, he will work so hard to get back, he has so much pride," he said.

Eli Manning Doesn't Want To Play Anywhere Else

Oct 13, 2017 7:37 PM

The New York Giants are struggling, but Eli Manning doesn't want to play anywhere else.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been mentioned as a possibility with Tom Coughlin, Manning's former coach, running football operations there.

Manning says he hasn't heard the rumors and that he doesn't "want to play anywhere else."

"That's always the goal," he said. "You always want to come to a place and make an impact, stay in one spot, and I think that's always the mindset. I hope that will be the case. Obviously, in this league, things can change, and if we have to make decisions, we'll figure it out."

Von Miller: Odell Beckham Should Be Highest-Paid Ever

Oct 12, 2017 8:44 AM

Von Miller still believes that Odell Beckham, Jr. deserves to be the NFL's highest-paid player despite his position and the season-ending injury he suffered on Sunday.

Beckham said this summer that he wanted to be the league's highest-paid player.

"Odell should be the highest-paid player ever in the National Football League," the linebacker said. "He should be the highest-paid player ever, regardless of position. That's just the type of player he is. It doesn't matter if it's quarterback, offensive line, receiver. It doesn't matter. The type of impact that he has on the globe, the type of viewers that he brings -- just him as a player. That makes up for him not playing quarterback. So, he's a once-in-a-lifetime player. Definitely deserving.

"There's no reason that he won't come back and be the same type of player. That's just one of the guys that you invest in. When you get a guy like that, that's the guy that you invest in, that you want to keep around for his whole career."

New York Giants owner John Mara said this summer that Beckham would eventually be handsomely paid.

Ben McAdoo's Job With Giants Not In Jeopardy

Oct 8, 2017 12:09 PM

Despite the New York Giants' disappointing 0-4 start entering Week 5, the job of Ben McAdoo is not in jeopardy.

"Ben McAdoo is not in trouble," Rapoport reported on NFL GameDay Morning. "The Giants believe he is still a future very successful coach. He actually went to the playoffs last year. This is expected to be just a blip on the radar for the Giants."

The Giants similarly stood by Tom Coughlin after their 0-6 start in 2013.

McAdoo was viewed as an obvious candidate to replace Coughlin once he was hired in 2015.
