Giants Inform Eli Manning Of Decision To Pick Davis Webb

Apr 30, 2017 10:53 AM

The New York Giants made a courtesy call to Eli Manning before they selected Davis Webb out of Cal with the 87th overall pick.

The Giants said they didn't think they needed to discuss it with him before.

"We didn't have any conversation with Eli before we drafted, but we drafted a quarterback, and we are going to let our quarterback know that we are drafting a quarterback, of course," general manager Jerry Reese said Friday night.

Webb becomes the fourth quarterback selected by the Giants since Manning entered the NFL in 2004.

Documents: Eli Manning Was Involved In Scheme To Defraud Collectors

Apr 13, 2017 7:38 PM

An email shows Eli Manning participated in a scheme to defraud collectors of what they believed was game-worn equipment.

Manning instructed a team manager to get the equipment that could be passed off as game-worn.

“2 helmets that can pass as game used. That is it. Eli,” Manning wrote to equipment manager Joe Skiba from a BlackBerry on April 27, 2010, according to the documents.

Manning soon wrote to his marketing agent, Alan Zucker, who requested the helmets, saying: “Should be able to get them for tomorrow.”

Related court papers allege that the emails prove “Manning was looking to give non-game-used helmets to Steiner to satisfy — fraudulently — his contractual obligation” with Steiner.

Eli Manning Fine With Giants Drafting A Quarterback

Apr 7, 2017 1:07 PM

Eli Manning, 36, says he'd have no problem with the New York Giants drafting a quarterback later this month.

"Whoever they need to draft that's going to help out the team, whether it's this year or going forward, I'm fine," Manning said. "We drafted a quarterback four years ago, Ryan Nassib, I know that's part of it, quarterbacks are going to get drafted. I got my job to do, I'm going to go out there and do it. Ownership and management have their job, to draft the best players and looking forward to the future, I understand that's part of it."

The Giants currently have Manning, Geno Smith, Josh Johnson and Keith Wenning on their depth chart.
