Ben McAdoo May Give Up Play-Calling Duties

Sep 20, 2017 8:11 AM

The New York Giants have struggled offensively, which has led Ben McAdoo to consider giving up play-calling duties as soon as this week.

The Giants have scored 20 or fewer points in eight straight games.

"We can't keep doing the same thing over and over again. That's insanity. It's not working," McAdoo said. "So we're going to look to make some changes this week, like we did last week, maybe a little bit more drastic this week, to use your word.

"If that means me giving up play calling duties, that's something that [the offensive staff will] look at, that we'll talk about."

Play-calling duties would likely go to offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan.

Ben McAdoo Blames Eli Manning For 'Sloppy' Fourth Down Play

Sep 19, 2017 12:04 PM

The New York Giants attempted a comeback in the second half against the Detroit Lions on Monday, but it was derailed by what Ben AcAdoo called "sloppy quarterback play" by Eli Manning.

The Giants were going for a touchdown on fourth-and-goal at Detroit's 2-yard line with just over five minutes left in the third. New York never got the play off, instead being called for a costly delay of game that forced them to settle for a field goal.

"Sloppy quarterback play," McAdoo said. "Quarterback and center need to be on the same page there. We need to get the ball snapped."

The Giants could've called a timeout to get things in order. Manning was trying to change the play and when he finally got everything settled the play clock was ticking away.

McAdoo left it up to his quarterback and captain to handle. He didn't call a timeout.

"Because we have a veteran quarterback who has played a lot of football and I expect us to get the ball snapped," McAdoo explained. "Usually the clock goes from 3-2-1-0. Once it hits zero [the officials] look at the ball and look at the clock, usually it has to tick once it hits zero to get the ball snapped without it being a delay of game. I thought we had a chance to get it off."

Odell Beckham Jr., Giants Could Agree Upon Extension During Season

Sep 19, 2017 8:04 AM

Odell Beckham Jr. and the New York Giants are both open to working on a long-term contract during the 2017 season.

Beckham is one of the biggest bargains in all of professional sports with just a $1.8 million salary this season and just an $8.5 million salary for 2018 assigned through a fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

The Giants and Beckham didn't speak much during camp on a new deal.

Beckham's first three years in the NFL have been amongst the most productive of any wide receiver in history.

NFL Suspends Josh Brown For Six Games

Sep 8, 2017 9:16 AM

The NFL has suspended Josh Brown for another six games for domestic violence accusations.

Brown severed a one-game suspension at the start of the 2016 season.

"We reopened the investigation based on new info," the league texted to ESPN on Friday. "Concluded there was a violation of our personal conduct policy and imposed 6 game suspension which he accepted without appeal."

The announcement comes on the same day that Ezekiel Elliott is waiting to hear from a U.S. District Court judge in Texas whether he will be granted a temporary restraining order that would allow him to continue to play this season.

"Timing has nothing to do with Zeke and made no sense to hold this until Zeke was complete," the league texted to ESPN.

Brown remains unsigned after the New York Giants released him in October.

The Giants signed Brown to a two-year, $4 million deal in April 2016 despite knowing he was under investigation for domestic abuse.
