Pierce Headed Towards Retirement

Oct 14, 2014 9:42 PM

Longtime Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce may be headed towards retirement. Pierce suffered a herniated disc in his neck in Week 9 against San Diego and missed the rest of the season. "It is healing but I am going to need surgery to continue playing," said Pierce. "That's not an option I am looking forward to. It is looking like it is going down that [retirement] path. First offseason I am having away from football and I am enjoying it."

Pierce Says Coughlin Is On Hot Seat

Jul 5, 2014 3:43 PM

Former Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce says head coach Tom Coughlin and many others in the organization are feeling the heat from last year's 8-8 season. "He's on the hot seat," Pierce said of Coughlin during an interview with NFL Network. "I think everybody in the organization is on the hot seat. You are talking about a team three years removed from the Super Bowl. There are some fires lit underneath people's butts now in that locker room and in that organization. Everybody is on high alert. It is going to be a very interesting 2010 season." Pierce was released in February after five seasons with the team following a season-ending neck injury.

Super Bowl XLVIII Awarded To New York

May 18, 2014 9:00 PM

It took four votes, but New York/New Jersey was chosen Tuesday to host the 2014 Super Bowl. NFL owners picked Meadowlands Stadium, the new $1.6 billion facility in East Rutherford, N.J., over Miami and Tampa. No bid received the required 24 of 32 votes on the first ballot, so NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called for a second ballot. Miami was eliminated on that ballot, but owners couldn't choose between New York and Tampa on the third. A simple majority was needed on the fourth ballot, and New York became the winner.

Jacobs Says New York Is Still Giants Town

Nov 1, 2014 3:01 AM

Giants running back Brandon Jacobs says that New York still belongs to his team despite the success of the Jets. "We will never be the 'other team' for the simple reason that we have a Super Bowl ring," Jacobs said Friday. The Jets are the hot topic in New York coming off their appearance in the AFC Title game and the additions of LaDainian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor and others. "I'm sure you all have heard me say it before -- I don't care," defensive end Justin Tuck said. "The Jets can have all the headlines that they want. All I worry about is what we do on Sundays. Rex and the Jets, or whoever, can say whatever they want to say. It doesn't bother me any. "I don't play for the Jets and I don't necessarily worry about what they do. I wish them all the success in the world."
