Tyree, Hilliard To Retire With Giants

Jul 6, 2014 6:15 AM

The Giants have signed Super Bowl XLII hero David Tyree and fellow wide receiver Ike Hilliard to one-day contracts so the pair can retire with the team. Tyree will be remembered for one of the greatest catches in Super Bowl history when he snagged a desperation heave from Eli Manning and secured the ball with the aid of his helmet while Rodney Harrison was draped all over him. Hilliard, 34, played in 98 games and started 92 for the Giants between 1997-2004. He finished fifth in franchise history in receptions with 368 catches for a total of 4,630 yards and 27 touchdowns.

Chad Jones Out Of Hospital, Headed Home

Sep 20, 2014 2:59 PM

Giants rookie safety Chad Jones is heading home to New Orleans after spending nearly a month in a New York hospital. Jones, who has undergone numerous surgical procedures on his left leg and ankle following his terrifying car accident June 25 in New Orleans, will return in several weeks to undergo further surgery. "Chad is in great spirits and excited to be getting out of the hospital," said Ronnie Barnes, the Giants' vice president of medical services. "All has gone well thus far for Chad and he will return in probably six to eight weeks for another surgical procedure." In the accident, Jones lost control of his SUV and crashed into a pole -- police stated later that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the wreck.

Oct 15, 2014 3:55 AM

Keith Bulluck is moving to middle linebacker for the Giants. "I don't think it'll be any different here, and I haven't really even thought twice about it," Bulluck said Monday. Bulluck signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with New York on Saturday. "It was not a matter of me getting confidence to play the middle," said the 33-year-old, who spent most of his time as a weakside linebacker with the Titans. "Confidence has never been an issue with me when it comes to this game. I think that it's just going to be fun and I'm planning on making a lot of plays."

Bradshaw Hoping For Another Increase In Role

Sep 1, 2014 8:00 PM

Ahmad Bradshaw is hoping for an even bigger role with the Giants this season. He is entering the final season of his rookie contract. ?As much as they rotate me in practice and the first two years I had going to the Super Bowl and being a big part of the Super Bowl, I had to learn a lot towards the end of that Super Bowl year,? Bradshaw said. ?And then the next year got bigger and last year was even a bigger role with sharing that No. 1 spot with Brandon (Jacobs). It?s always a bigger role that comes every year. This year even will be bigger and I?ve just got to prepare for it and be ready for it.?

Hixon Clears Waivers, Giants To Place Him On IR

Jul 4, 2014 7:55 PM

Domenik Hixon cleared waivers this week, a league source said Saturday, so the New York Giants will place him on season-ending injured reserve. The Giants put Hixon on the waived/injured list Thursday, one month after he suffered a right anterior cruciate ligament tear during the team's first practice at New Meadowlands Stadium. The Giants risked losing Hixon's rights by waiving him, though it's rare for players to be claimed while they're dealing with a long-term injury.

Giants Waive Domenik Hixon

Feb 14, 2014 5:37 PM

The Giants announced Domenik Hixon was waived/injured, which is a prerequisite to his being placed on injured reserve if he clears waivers. The Giants replaced Hixon on the roster with Adam Jennings, a 2006 Atlanta Falcons draft pick who played last season and part of 2008 with the Detroit Lions. With only six career receptions (all in 2007 with the Falcons) the 5-9 Jennings primarily functions as a return specialist.

2010 Season Preview: New York Giants
It?s hard to ignore the injury-fed collapse in 2009, where a 5-0 start turned into an 8-8 debacle. This could still be a playoff team, but for that to happen a lot of variables have to go their way.
