It took four votes, but New York/New Jersey was chosen Tuesday to host the 2014 Super Bowl. NFL owners picked Meadowlands Stadium, the new $1.6 billion facility in East Rutherford, N.J., over Miami and Tampa. No bid received the required 24 of 32 votes on the first ballot, so NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called for a second ballot. Miami was eliminated on that ballot, but owners couldn't choose between New York and Tampa on the third. A simple majority was needed on the fourth ballot, and New York became the winner.
