Jags' Garrard Practices, Eyes Return

Jul 24, 2014 4:51 PM

Jacksonville Jaguars' quarterback David Garrard practiced with the first-team offense Wednesday, the latest step in his return to the starting lineup. Garrard missed the last three games after spraining his left ankle Oct. 22 against Indianapolis. The Jaguars, who went 2-1 with Quinn Gray under center, expect Garrard back Sunday against San Diego. "He's one of our playmakers on offense so to be able to get him back certainly should provide a lift," Coach Jack Del Rio said. "We want David to settle back into the kind of football he was playing before he got injured, be a playmaker for us. He was making plays with his mind, with his feet and with his arm. We want him to get back into that groove and play good football for us." Garrard, who ran without pain last week, probably could have played Sunday at Tennessee. But the Jaguars (6-3) decided to play it safe and hold him out one more week.

Jags' Garrard Practices, May Play Against Titans

Jul 14, 2014 8:25 AM

Jaguars' quarterback David Garrard practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday and could return against Tennessee. Garrard ran without pain last week, but the real test was getting through his first practice since suffering a high ankle sprain Oct. 22 against Indianapolis. "It's going to be obvious if I can do it," Garrard said before practice Wednesday. "If I can't, then it'll be obvious as well. I don't want to be hobbling. I don't feel like I'll be able to play my game if I'm hobbling around or gimping around. I've never played like that." The Jaguars (5-3) started the season 4-1 thanks mostly to Garrard. He injured his left ankle early against the Colts and sat out the last two games. Quinn Gray started in his place.

Two Jags Arrested, Neither Travel With Team

Jul 24, 2014 4:39 PM

Jaguars' rookie linebacker Justin Durant and second-year offensive tackle Richard Collier were arrested in separate incidents early Saturday, and neither made the trip to New Orleans. Jacksonville police arrested Collier for driving under the influence, and Durant was charged with resisting arrest without violence. The Jaguars placed Collier on the reserve/suspended list Saturday. The team said Collier and Durant didn't travel for Sunday's game against the Saints.
