Jaguars Sign CB Bruce Thornton
The Jaguars signed free-agent cornerback Bruce Thornton on Wednesday, filling Ahmad Carroll's roster spot.
Thornton, a fourth-round pick by Dallas in 2004, was out of the league last season after being waived by the Jets in August.
Thornton played one game with the Cowboys in 2004, injured his knee and spent the rest of the season on injured reserve. Dallas waived him the following year. He signed with San Francisco in September 2005 and started 11 of the final 12 games. He finished with 31 tackles and two interceptions.
Leftwich To Begin Working Out With Jags
After losing his starting job after the sixth game last season, Byron Leftwich was renamed the club's No. 1 quarterback in February during the NFL Combine.
Since then, Leftwich hasn't responded to reporters' requests for interviews, and he skipped the club's offseason conditioning drills to work in South Florida with a personal trainer.

Jaguars defensive back Ahmad Carroll was arrested on weapon and drug charges early Saturday on suspicion of being involved in a disturbance with a weapon, authorities said.
The 23-year-old Carroll was questioned by police after he was pointed out as someone involved during a disturbance at an Atlanta restaurant, Atlanta police spokesman officer James Polite said.
Jaguars Release Chris Hanson
The Jaguars released punter Chris Hanson on Tuesday, two days after the team drafted Adam Podlesh in the fourth round.
Podlesh, from Maryland, was the first specialist taken in the draft. He was the second selection Sunday, No. 101 overall.
Podlesh averaged 42.9 yards per kick, and the Jaguars expected him to be an upgrade over Hanson, whose net average of 33.4 yards last season ranked last in the NFL.
