Couch Signs Two-Year Deal With Jacksonville

Sep 5, 2014 2:16 AM

Tim Couch has signed a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The deal was struck Sunday afternoon following Couch's workout for the Jags, sources told our Drew Deener. No terms were yet available. In Jacksonville, Couch will be competing with Quinn Gray for the third string QB spot. Gray is currently sidelined with an injury. Couch has not played in an NFL game since the 2004 pre-season with the Green Bay Packers. Couch recently told 27 Sportsfirst that he has increased his body weight from 225 to 245 pounds and dropped his body fat to 5%, down from 13% when he last played. Couch said at that time he had contacted all 32 teams about an invite to camp.

Coach: Culpepper Not A Fit For Jags

Jul 31, 2014 1:08 AM

Jack Del Rio was interested in any player who could make his Jacksonville team better, and at the top of the list was quarterback Daunte Culpepper. But the Jaguars' flirtation with the former UCF star is over. Del Rio said on his radio show Tuesday night that a Jags-Culpepper marriage probably will not happen. "My gut is it's not going to be a fit for us," Del Rio said. "I wouldn't rule it totally out, but it just doesn't seem like it's going to fit for us and for him."

Jaguars Eyeing Culpepper

Jul 6, 2014 11:04 PM

The Miami Dolphins released Daunte Culpepper on Tuesday, ending the former Pro Bowl quarterback's short stint in South Florida while fueling widespread speculation that he could become a Jacksonville Jaguar. In an e-mail to the Times-Union on Tuesday, Culpepper said he has not "spoken to anyone yet" about playing for what would be his third NFL team. "I just hope that there is still a team or two out there that has an opportunity for a hard-working quarterback who is willing to come in and contribute wherever needed," Culpepper said. "I am ready to get into a training camp so that I can prepare for the 2007 season."

Barnes, who pleaded no contest to drunken-driving charges, was ordered by Judge James Ruth to pay $650 in fines and court costs and to perform 50 hours of community service.
