Speculation is running wild in Motown that the Lions are thinking about trading receiver Roy Williams and moving up in this weekend's draft to take quarterback Matt Ryan, according to the Detroit Free Press. Trade talk involving Williams has been active all offseason, despite comments from both Williams and team president Matt Millen to the contrary. Coach Rod Marinelli has denied the possibility of any trades, but is known as an active dealer on draft day.

Kitna Plays Trade Joke On Orlovsky

Oct 6, 2014 7:09 PM

Jon Kitna nearly had Dan Orlovsky packing his bags last week as the backup quarterback arrived for a routine workout, according to the Detroit Free Press. Upon his arrival, Orlovsky received word that he was close to being dealt to the Colts, a proposition he visibly didn't seem to like. Packing boxes were even stacked up alongside his locker. "I was kind of upset," Orlovsky said Monday, recalling the incident. "But the Colts are really good. But Peyton Manning's probably going to play another 20 years." In the end, Kitna revealed that it was simply an April Fool's joke.

Martz: 'In Detroit We Were Not A Good Football Team'

Oct 15, 2014 7:00 PM

Mike Martz, who served as the offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions over the last few years, has slammed his former team once again, according to MLive.com. "In Detroit we were not a good football team," said Martz. "We were last in the NFL on defense, and when you have to throw the football to win, that's not a good thing." Martz joined San Francisco's staff after a late-season collapse with the Lions. "We weren't good enough on the offensive line to protect him and throw the ball like we did. When I was with the Rams, we were. The number of hits on the quarterback when I was with the Rams near the end of my time there was about the middle of the pack. In the early goings, it was actually very low, and we were ranked near the best in the league," Martz added.
