Mike Williams Trying To Save Career With Titans

Oct 21, 2014 3:21 PM

Wide receiver Mike Williams, the tenth overall pick in the 2005 NFL Draft, is attempting to save his career with the Titans this season, according to The Detroit Free Press. Williams lost 30 pounds this offseason and was with the team bright and early when workouts began recently. "That conversation with Fisher, only a fool wouldn't take it as such," Williams said of Coach Jeff Fisher's request that he get in shape. "It was pretty much, 'You make a commitment to be in shape when you come back or ... move forward.'" "His weight's coming down. We're working on the speed. He's running well and catching well, so it's going to be very competitive there," Fisher said. "I'm pleased with where he is."

Roy Williams: 'I Thought I'd Be Out Of Here'

Nov 5, 2014 2:36 PM

Lions' receiver Roy Williams admitted after practice on Wednesday that he believed the team was going to trade him this offseason, according to The Detroit Free Press. "From all the rumors, I thought I was out of here. Just from listening to everything. But then I listened to Coach saying I wasn't going nowhere, so that reassured me that I wasn't going anywhere," Williams said. There were rumors swirling that Williams was close to being dealt to both the Eagles and Cowboys this winter. "I mean, I don't think it was zero percent chance I wasn't going anywhere. I think if somebody would have come with something that could have benefited the Lions, I think I would have been out of here," Williams added.

Marinelli: All 9 Draftees Must Make Lions

Nov 5, 2014 2:36 PM

Lions' Coach Rod Marinelli believes that all nine of the team's recently-drafted players must make the team this fall, according to the Detroit Free Press. "The guys that we draft, we've got to make sure they make this team," Marinelli said. "So let's not draft somebody where, all of a sudden, we have four guys in that spot, and he doesn't make this team for whatever reason." "I want to make sure the guys we're getting, we have spots, we have a plan for these guys, and we know how to use them, and they're going to come in and make our team," he added.
