The Cowboys and Eagles will be broadcast in prime time on Dec. 12 despite the struggles of Dallas this season.
The NFL could have moved a different game into the Sunday night slot under its flexible scheduling rules.
The league said Tuesday the Patriots-Bears game in Week 14 will shift from 1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. ET.

Wade Phillips Wants To Coach Again
Wade Phillips hopes he receives another to coach in the NFL again.
The Cowboys fired Phillips on Nov. 8.
"I still want to coach, so we'll see what happens," he said.
Phillips remains a supporter of his former team.
"I'm excited about them... I'm disappointed about Thanksgiving but we had some earlier like that, where it felt like we should have won, but we didn't," Phillips said.
Romo Throws During Practice
Injured Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo took a small step toward his return from a broken collarbone, throwing at the beginning of Monday's practice.
While his teammates wore helmets and shells under their jerseys, Romo sported a T-shirt and backwards cap and threw during the "pat-and-go" session.
This was the first time Romo participated in the warmup portion of practice since he suffered a broken collarbone in an Oct. 25 loss to the Giants.
Dez Bryant Skips Out On Media
Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dez Bryant didn't talk to the media following the team's loss to the Saints on Thursday afternoon.
Bryant was held without a catch. He had posted 23 catches for 328 yards and four touchdowns in the team's last four games.
At times, quarterback Jon Kitna and Bryant weren't on the same page.
"They do some confusing things," Kitna said of the Saints defense. "There was one time where there was something he saw, and he saw it right and I was wrong. And on the third down unfortunately it cost us to have to get off the field."
Roy Williams: Blame Me For Loss
Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams is taking the blame for the team's loss to the Saints on Thursday afternoon.
"I lost the ballgame," Williams said. "I'm accountable for what I did. Put it on me. I let my team down."
Leading 27-23, the Cowboys went into their four-minute offense in hopes of closing out New Orleans.
On a third-and-6 play from the Cowboys 42, Williams broke free on a slant pattern. He caught the ball in stride and had more than the first down, but eventually fumbled.
The Saints scored the game-winning touchdown five plays later.
"I'm disappointed, because I let my team down," Williams said. "I know this is a team game, and the defense had a chance to stop them, but it wouldn't have come to that if I had just fallen down or been tackled.
"I could've put the nail in the coffin on that play. We had the momentum swung our way, and it was 'W.' If I had just been tackled or long-jumped my way into the end zone, we would have won the game."
Despite Loss, Romo Still Wants To Return
The Cowboys lost to the Saints on Thursday afternoon, but quarterback Tony Romo still wants to return this season.
Reports have indicated that Romo may be able to play in the team's final two games.
"Anytime there's football games going on you always want to play," Romo said. "There's no question about that."
Dallas is now 3-8 and they are all but out of the playoff picture.
Romo is recovering from a broken left collarbone suffered on Oct. 25 against the Giants.

The Grammy award-winning group will perform February 6 at Cowboys Stadium.
Romo Working Towards Week 16 Return
Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is working towards a return to the field in Week 16.
Dallas will face Arizona on Christmas Night, their second-to-last-game.
Romo broke his collarbone on Oct. 25 against the Giants and there is a strong possibility that he'll be shut down if Dallas gets eliminated from the playoff picture.
The Cowboys are 1-6 and 2-1 with Jon Kitna as their quarterback.
Romo Completes Throwing Session
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hopes that quarterback Tony Romo will play again this season.
Jones said that Romo threw Sunday for the first time since breaking his left collarbone in the Oct. 25 loss to the Giants.
The injury is expected to sideline Romo for at least another three weeks, according to a source.
Romo was due for X-rays either Sunday or Monday, according to sources, but Jones said after the game that X-rays weren't necessary at this point.
"X-rays won't help us, relative to how and what degree it's mended and what degree it can take a lick," Jones said.
"There may be some just to see if there's some kind of technical alignment or something like that, and I'm not real qualified or knowledgeable to talk about that. But we didn't think an X-ray or X-rays or those type of things will help us make a decision. It's going to be how it's feeling."
Garrett Will Take Hard Approach With Cowboys
Cowboys interim coach Jason Garrett will take a hard-line approach with the team over the remainder of the season.
"One of the things that you have to guard against is having too much sympathy for the players," Garrett said. "It's hard, and it's going to be hard. It's a long season, and we know that. The best players know that. You've got to fight through some things.
"Practices are supposed to be hard. The seasons are supposed to be hard. But if you work at it and you improve individually and as a group, you have a great chance of having success on Sunday."
Garrett is 1-0 as head coach since replacing Wade Phillips.
