Steroids Dealer Says He Supplied Vick

Oct 31, 2014 9:17 PM

A steroids trafficker from Plano claimed that he supplied quarterback Michael Vick with the drugs. David Jacobs told The Dallas Morning News before his death that he was Vick's supplier when the wuarterback played for the Falcons. The Morning News did not publish Jacobs' allegations because authorities at the time declined to confirm Vick was part of the Jacobs investigation. Vick was never implicated in the Jacobs steroids case. He was released from home confinement in late July after being sentenced to nearly two years in prison for his role in a dog-fighting ring.

Cowboys Want To Sign Austin To Long-Term Deal

May 17, 2014 5:54 AM

The Cowboys would like to sign wide receiver Miles Austin to a long-term deal this offseason. However, Dallas owner Jerry Jones doesn't want to make things complicated with the restricted free agent. Jones says he saw enough from Austin, who had a great 11-game stretch as a starter that landed him in the Pro Bowl, to warrant a long-term contract. "Yes," Jones said. "That's all I'm going to say, but the answer is yes."

Dallas Wants To Sign Jones Long-Term

Jun 28, 2014 1:39 PM

Jerry Jones is interested in signing breakout wide receiver Miles Austin to a long-term contract. "Yes," Jones said Thursday. "That's all I'm going to say, but the answer is yes." Jones isn't ready to give up on Roy Williams, however. "You look at his talent, you look at his potential, you look at his contract," Jones said. "You look at how he came early and stayed late, tried to improve, looked for ways to maximize his value. All of those things are a major consideration. His contract is a major consideration. "Do you compromise your football team? No. I've done far more than that financially in thinking at the time I've compromised the football team. I do not think that is the case with Roy. ... We've got a player that has the will and has the ability."

The Cowboys will retain Wade Phillips as head coach, a high-ranking team source said Monday. There has been no decision on whether to negotiate an extension of Phillips' current contract, the source said. The Cowboys control Phillips' fate because they have an option for the 2010 season under terms of Phillips' original contract that will play him close to the $3 million he earned this season. Roy Williams Frustrated With Lack Of Targets

Oct 30, 2014 2:52 PM

Roy Williams was again a non-factor in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. "I didn't get a ball today, and I didn't get a look at today. It just happens," Williams said. "It's frustrating. It pisses me off, especially when we lose and especially when I feel like I have a mismatch. I got a 5-10 corner [covering me, Dontonio Wingfield], but hey, you know, I will continue to work hard in the offseason and it will come back around." The Cowboys still owe Williams $21 million guaranteed, including more than $9 million in 2010 even if he's not on the roster. Williams said a few weeks ago he doesn't expect to get released after just his second season with the club. "Now, next year," he said in late December, "if this is the same thing going on, then I'll be like, 'Oh [expletive], I've got to get my [expletive] together.' But right now, no. It's play ball. I'm good."
