Sam Darnold Rejects Notion Of Avoiding Browns In Draft

Nov 28, 2017 11:41 AM

Sam Darnold denied a rumor that he might remain at USC for his junior season if the Cleveland Browns end up with the first pick in the 2018 NFL draft.

Darnold has been widely rumored to stay in school despite his high draft standing.

"I didn't say anything about the Browns," Darnold told reporters after the Trojans' practice Monday. "I've never said anything bad about (an NFL) team. They know I would never say anything."

Darnold's draft availability has been the topic of speculation since earlier this month, when the MMQB's Albert Breer said during a radio interview that Darnold would wait to see if the Browns had the No. 1 pick before deciding whether to enter the draft.

Hue Jackson: Browns Sticking With DeShone Kizer

Nov 20, 2017 8:36 AM

Hue Jackson benched DeShone Kizer more than once earlier this season, but the coach says he's sticking with the quarterback despite four turnovers on Sunday.

The Cleveland Browns lost 19-7 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"Where we are right now, I need to continue to see him," Jackson said. "Let's let him play. Let's let him play this thing out. As long as he's healthy, let's keep putting him out there. I want to walk away from this season knowing exactly what DeShone Kizer is top to bottom. He deserves that. I know this is all tough for him. Week in and week out, it's the consistency he has to keep chasing. He just has to keep working at it."

Josh Gordon is now sober and has been reinstated by the NFL and is ambitious on what he hopes to accomplish.

Gordon led the NFL in receiving yards in 2013 with 1,646.

"Ultimately my goal is to be the best wide receiver of all time, so I think any wide receiver, any position should see themselves in that way," Gordon told reporters, via The Plain Dealer. "For me, that's always been my goal, and it's just been reaffirmed for me time and time again and now being back in the situation to do it, I plan on seeing it through."

Josh Gordon Admits Using Drugs, Alcohol 'Before Every Game'

Nov 7, 2017 10:34 AM

Josh Gordon has admitted in an interview with GQ that he used drugs or alcohol before every NFL game he played.

Gordon said he made taking some substance "a ritual ... before every game."

"We would stay at the team hotel, and then players are allowed to go back home, get what they need and then go to the game," the Cleveland Browns wide receiver said. "So I'd leave the hotel early morning, go home, eat breakfast, do my little ritual, whatever it may be, some weed, some alcohol and then go to the game. And then, I'd definitely be partying after every game, win or lose. Every game."

Gordon, who has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL, led the league in receiving in 2013 despite playing in just 14 games.

Sashi Brown Denies Trying To Sabotage Trade For AJ McCarron

Nov 6, 2017 7:15 PM

Sashi Brown has denied reports that he intentionally sabotaged the Cleveland Browns' trade with the Cincinnati Bengals for AJ McCarron.

"I am not worried about that internally," Brown said. "Externally, I can just put it to bed; that is just not the case."

The Browns did not file the paperwork for the trade by last Tuesday's trade deadline.

Brown said Hue Jackson was in the room as the team tried to complete the deal minutes before the deadline.

"This is just a matter of getting to a deal too late in the process," Brown said.

AJ McCarron Files Grievance, Seeking Unrestricted Free Agency In 2018

Nov 5, 2017 8:44 AM

AJ McCarron has filed a grievance against the Cincinnati Bengals in order to become an unrestricted free agent in 2018.

The ruling could determine whether the Cleveland Browns can sign McCarron this offseason without giving compensation to the Bengals.

The Browns agreed to send second- and third-round picks to the Bengals in a trade that would have sent McCarron to Cleveland on Tuesday. The trade was rejected by the NFL after the paperwork was submitted past the trade deadline.

Cincinnati likely would place a first-round tender on McCarron as a restricted free agent, which would make it difficult for him sign an offer sheet.

Myles Garrett Self-Reported Concussion

Nov 1, 2017 10:08 AM

Myles Garrett self-reported his concussion two days after suffering it on Oct. 22nd.

"I'll play through anything," he said. "I'll play through my foot, my arm, anything that's affecting me below my neck, because I can't play around with my brain."

Garrett said he's had two previous concussions, one in high school and one while at Texas A&M.

"If it had been (something) physical with my body, that's different, but you don't want to mess with your mind," he said. "That's something that you can't get back. That's something you can't heal.

"You can deal with a thumb or an arm or a back or a leg, but messing with your mind and allowing those kind of things to carry on, that can do harm for a long time and you don't want to be that way if you plan to have kids or be the same way you've always known."
