Terrelle Pryor Unlikely To Receive Franchise Tag From Browns

Feb 27, 2017 3:54 PM

The Cleveland Browns are willing to risk losing Terrelle Pryor in free agency.

The club is unlikely to use the franchise tag on Pryor. This season placing the tag on a wide receiver will eat up 9.39% of the salary cap. That's expected to be north of $15 million for the 2017 season.

Pryor, a former quarterback, caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards and four touchdowns in his first full season as a receiver.

Josh McCown: Jimmy Garoppolo Has Potential To 'Carry A Franchise'

Feb 13, 2017 1:49 PM

Josh McCown is no longer a member of the Cleveland Browns, but he still has an opinion about who will be their starting quarterback next season.

McCown believes that Jimmy Garoppolo, who has been linked to Cleveland in trade rumors, would be a nice fit.

"I've seen him on tape because we had a common opponent in Miami," McCown said. "He made some high-level throws and did some things that would get you excited about his ability to maybe carry a franchise. That's definitely on the tape."

McCown went further, offering some comparisons for the young New England Patriots quarterback.

"I saw some things in Derek Carr early on in the 2014 draft that reminded me of Aaron Rodgers and I thought 'this guy is going to be pretty good,'" McCown said. "I see the same things when I watch Jimmy: quick release, strong arm, athletic. I'm not saying he's Aaron Rodgers, but he's got some traits in the same mold, and he's got tremendous upside."

Myles Garrett Asks Cowboys To Trade Up For Him In Video

Feb 10, 2017 9:34 PM

In a video from December that was released on Friday, Myles Garrett asked Jerry Jones to trade up to select him in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The ESPN video, released Friday, was taken during a relaxed interview session at the College Football Awards show Dec. 8.

His answer was "100 percent supposed to be fun," the producer said.

"All right, I'm speaking to you, Jerry," Myles Garrett said. "Mr. Garrett, make it happen. Dak Prescott is leading our team right now. I need you to take Tony Romo, take a couple picks, give them to Cleveland so you can pick me up. Please. I would love to play in Dallas. Just make it happen."

In a separate video for KRIV-TV in Houston that was posted on Twitter on Thursday, Garrett said he would "definitely" like to play for the Browns.

"People might say, oh they're this, they're that, or I made a comment about cold weather and they kind of pointed toward Cleveland," Garrett said. "It doesn't matter to me. I'll play wherever they put me. It's about your mindset you go into it [with]. If you go in there with a mindset that you're going to turn things around, you can make that contagious and people start to believe in it, then you can turn it into a winning program wherever you go."

Garrett grew up in Arlington where the Cowboys play.

Myles Garrett Will Skip NFL Draft Ceremony

Feb 10, 2017 1:26 PM

Myles Garrett plans to skip the 2017 NFL Draft ceremony, instead watching at his home in Arlington, Texas.

Garrett is widely expected to be the top pick in the draft.

Last year, 25 prospects attended the draft.

Two years ago, the No. 1 pick of the 2015 draft, Jameis Winston, opted out of the chance to attend the draft in person because his grandmother was unable to travel for health reasons while Marcus Mariota also stayed home.

Jimmy Garoppolo On Browns: 'We'll See When I Get There'

Feb 2, 2017 4:41 PM

When asked whether he would welcome a trade to the Cleveland Browns, Jimmy Garoppolo made an odd choice with his words.

"That opportunity really hasn't approached me yet so we'll see when we get there I guess," Garoppolo told the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

While Garoppolo intensified rumors by saying "when" and not "if" the belief is that there was no hidden meaning.

"To be honest, I really haven't thought about it much," he said. "It's not even in the back of my mind. We're focused on the [Atlanta] Falcons this week. It's a big week for us. It's the biggest game of the year and that's kind of where my mind's at."

The New England Patriots have Garoppolo under contract for one more season at less than $1 million.
